2010 2LT/RS Auto- Baseline Dyno and then the mods begin

Hey guys/girls,

Just purchased my wife a 2010 Camaro 2LT/RS Automatic this weekend. As I am co-owner of Dyno Tuned Performance in Va. Beach I decided I would post all the dyno information that I can as the car gets modified.

We are not a sponsoring vendor yet, but do plan to become one within the month. I do not sell parts over the internet, so don't feel there is any alterior motive here. I have been reading a lot of the V6 threads and most are going by how the car feels after a mod. Since I have a dyno at my disposal, I just figured I'd post what we get out of the mods that we do to this car.

We baselined the car this morning. The mileage is 1250, 87 Octane in the tank and completely stock front to rear. One thing I can tell you for sure is that these cars are super sensitive to heat.

The first pull was done as soon as I got to work, so the car was hot. The RWHP was 230.2 and the RWTQ was 218. We allowed the car to cool for 30 minutes and the RWHP jumped to 257.1 and the RWTQ to 234.

I am filling the car up today with Shell 93 and will drive on that for a few days, then will re-dyno the car on Friday to see if there are any quantifiable advantages to using 93 over 87.

The first mod will be an Airaid V2 as we have always seen great performance from the Airaid line. Once custom tuning software is available from either HP Tuners or Diablosport CMR, we will install some ARH LT's with HF cats and custom tune. I will post graphs and info as these mods happen.

I am suprised to see that running 87 octane it did not pull any timing in the higher rpms...257 though is a good number for an auto.

One thing we saw on the dyno was that load made a big difference in the timing. The first pull we did (not shown), the load on our Dyno Dynamics Eddy Current was set to 130 and the graph was up and down almost the entire pull. We datalogged with HP Tuner software and the timing was as low as 6* and up to 22*...but up and down the whole way. We changed the load on the dyno to 100 and the timing stayed steady at 21/22* and the graph was fairly smooth.

Awsome!

You can bet lots of us will be anxiously awaiting your updated posts on this thread as you add more mods over time. Glad that you seem to be mostly up to date on what affects the V6 as you have already mentioned heat and 93 octane (can't wait to see what happens on that one!).

As far as tuning goes, I think your only bet is going through Trifecta. From what I understand, we may never see an option from HP Tuners or DiabloSport for the simple fact that a tune alone really has shown to do little to nothing for this car. It is basically to just optimize your Air/Fuel after doing mods, and even then a tune hasn't shown to provide big gains. Most bang for the buck tunewise seems to be from moding the auto tranny shifting and fighting of CELs when Long tube headers are added.

Anyways...applaud you for your contribution!

EDIT: Oh, and sweet color!!! lol
