I ordered (another) ZL1.

I posted this thread about 3 years ago:

https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=475806

It turned out that my local dealer did not have allocation for a ZL1, so I never got the car. It dragged on for a while and I got aggravated by the situation, so we wound up using a 2014 Z51 Corvette and a 2017 Z06 Corvette at One Lap of America for the last few years.

Around 2 months ago, my wife told me she would love to take a road trip, and why don't we buy a car close to the west coast and drive it home.
So...... I reordered from Watson Chevy in Tucson, and my car should be going into production this coming week. We plan to fly out in March and drive it home. We've done this a couple of other times over the years and it's been a really fun vacation - we have relatives and friends to visit on the way home.

Basically, I ordered the same car I ordered 3 years ago. Shadow Gray Metallic, visible carbon fiber weave hood insert, 10 speed auto, black / carbon fiber fuel filler door, red seat belts, navigation, embroidered center console lid, and ZL1 floormats. The old color was Nightfall Gray and I don't think they had the console lid option at the time.

So I'm excited to see the car get built, and take my vacation in March! And, very excited to have the car available for One Lap of America. This will be the 9th year competing for us (we aren't particularly good, but we have a lot of fun).

Sounds like a great trip! You get to enjoy a brand new car (world class sports coupe I might add), on a long road home...

Congratulations!

Awesome. That’s gonna be a great trip.
Funny you mention The ZL1 floor mats.
When I ordered my ZLE, I tried to order The ZL1 floor mats. 3 times my order was rejected and the sales manager and I couldn’t figure out what was going on until we phoned the plant.
Turns out it kicked out the order because of the floor mats. Go figure. Reordered without the mats and the order went through. Go figure LOL.

Great plan.

I bought my ZL1 and left it at the dealership in TN for several weeks while I moved to Colorado. I flew back after the move and did a 2 day road trip. It was great. It’s a really good way to get to know the car.

Have fun and post up pics after the trip.

Nice color, the ZL1 is an awesome road tripper. Early congrats and enjoy!

PDR and sunroof were must haves for me. They will be perfect when I do my US road trip someday.

Congrats on the new car order. Hope this one goes better! I agree on the roadtrip for picking up a new car. The longest one I've done was Portland, OR back here to Tampa, FL. An older modified MR2 Turbo that tried to kill me a few times.. still well worth it for the drive down the coast, some route 66 and visits to friends in CA and TX along the way. These days I try to buy cars from further away unless I'm trading something in

I got some exciting news yesterday. Our ordered ZL1 made it to Watson Chevy and the salesperson was nice enough to send me a few pictures. The dealership will be babysitting the car for another 2 months until we fly out for vacation to drive home.

Damn!

You are making me wish I ordered a ZL1! I would have gotten it very similar to yours! (but no sunroof and no nav)
