Should I allow my daughter and boyfriend to use my camaro for their homecoming?
I am the daughter of the owner of the camaro user known as "oldfriend." My dad has had this car for a little under a year now and he loves it. He won't even use it if it is raining, because he doesn't want to get watermarks on it, that's how crazy he is about the car. My boyfriend and I have a homecoming at school which is almost like a prom and we have been asking him to negotiate with us to get to use the car. My dad told me to post a thread about this "just for fun" but I think that if enough people think it would be okay to take the car for just this one night he might just change his mind and agree to it. So, people if you read this please say that you think it is a good idea!
Thank you for all your help! Updated This is three years later This time they drove the Camaro to their Honeymoon Last edited by oldfriend; 07-01-2014 at 07:54 PM. |

Nope! Sorry, my daughter is in high school and lucky if she even gets to ride in mine. I love her dearly but it is Sweet Lola.

Sure. Why not? He's got insurance right? And you'll be driving right? I don't see why not. It's a Camaro. Not a Ferrari. If he does let you, though, just remember, he'll probably be inspecting every inch of it when you get back, and I imagine anything wrong with it is going to get you on a very limited social life for the rest of your high school career.

What year are you, and what year is the boy toy? Also a side note, homecoming isnt really prom right. At least if I remember correctly. Depending on how far it is from your house, dinner, school, etc I could see it. Oh you'll need to check out the boy toy's driving record. No tickets, etc. That days weather conditions play a part too.
All that aside, if it was me.... Hell no. No one drives Kaylee but me (and on a very rare occasion my mechanic). |

By the way, it's my senior year of high school.
Please re-think your answers! |

I would not allow you to take it. not because I wouldn't trust my daughter, but high schoolers have no respect for other peoples' property. your dad probably cares about his car a lot. if he isn't OFFERING to let you take it, don't push the issue.

I think it's funny how your dad encouraged you to post this. I am sure he trusted that we all love our car as much as he does, so hopefully you would understand his reasoning.. : )
