I held mine in place this morning before I drove to work. On the Pontiac G8 GT's like I have now at least, the existing "dead pedal" is a piece of black plastic with some narrow/shallow vertical grooves. With the new dead pedal over that, from any real distance you can't see much of what's underneath so if I run into too much hassle trying to cut out and insert some black rubber'ish material in the slots I will just screw it on without anything.

I hope mine arrives today, but it still shows on USPS as a status of 29 June, and no updates. Cannot wait to install.

That's why I used a black mouse pad to help with the look of the slots...

I think I am the one the pedal guy says he has no address for me. Didn't get an email that I know of.

I found a strip of black, hard foam at work and cut out 14 slot inserts. I made each piece a tad big so it would fit snug in each slot, plus the foam has an adhesive backing to keep it in place against the plastic of the existing "dead pedal".
Marked then drilled four holes for the screws and installed. IMHO it looks great and matches the sport pedals real well, especially from more than a few inches away.
Was this a necessary purchase? Not really. Was it pricey? Yes. Do I like it? A lot.

PS: Keep in mind that this is in my 2009 Pontiac G8 GT.

I found the perfect match for the inside of the dead pedal. It takes a lot of trimming, it took me about 90 minutes to finish. Mossy Oak floor mats have perfect width. Walmart $26 for two mats, that gives enough for 4 pedals.
