Rail shipping information

If your car is going by rail, the following links might help you understand how it works and where your car is going.

UP:
If you live west of the Mississippi River, then UP (Union Pacific) will more than likely take your car from a rail yard near the assembly to a rail yard within a couple hundred miles of your dealer.
Here's a link that shows UP's automotive rail yards.

https://www.up.com/customers/autos/f...iles/index.htm

Contact info:
UP Main Number: 402-544-5000
UP Operator: 888-870-8777

BNSF:
http://www.bnsf.com/customers/suppor.../#%23subtabs-2

make sure to click on the city link to see maps

NS:
http://www.nscorp.com/content/dam/ns...auto_distr.pdf

This PDF shows the car companies that the yard serves and the haul-away companies that serve the yard.

CSX:
Looks like CSX handles everything east of the Mississippi.
http://www.csx.com/index.cfm/custome...mapslocations/

This is an Excel spreadsheet that will show the CSX automotive locations.

And this is a map of CSX's system:

http://www.csx.com/index.cfm/custome...sx-system-map/

For our Canadian friends, Canadian Pacific (CP) will be the rail company for Canada.

Finally, there is Alton & Southern. A&S doesn't do long hauling. They operate some VERY large switching yards in St. Louis.
Seems like all the rail cars going out west go thru the St. Louis area.
A&S will handle switching the rail cars and building the new trains.

You'd have to call them.

You can try these phone numbers:

UP Main Number: 402-544-5000
UP Operator: 888-870-8777

These aren't super secret or special numbers.

They are posted right on their public websites.
If they didn't want people calling them, they wouldn't post the numbers on their website.

Interesting tidbit about Alton & Southern.

If your car happens to go thru there (St. Louis), it will get delayed. Maybe for as long as week.
It's a HUUUGGGEEEEE yard. Seems like all east/west/north/south rail traffic goes thru them.
They are tasked with making sure everything gets to where it's gotta go.
Often times, they have to take trains apart and build new ones for the proper destinations.

Mine went through Autoport limited, assuming it is getting unloaded at a rail yard. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to get more info.

Have your dealer call the Dealer Business Center.
They can give him the pertinent shipping details.
