CLOSED HIGHWAY RACE FROM ELY TO VEGAS!
SILVER STATE CLASSIC-DESERT ROAD RACE
Just a reminder of the open road race from Ely Nevada toward las Vegas again this May 19. I have raced in this 4 times now and it is a blast!! It is a great feeling running on the open highway at 150MPH without going to jail!!! There are a lot of Camaro's in this race as well. Unless you can send them a letter proving you are an experienced racer, you have to attend a qualifying school at the Las Vegas speedway prior to your first race in the Silver Classic. Only takes one day and you'll be glad you did it. They teach you a great deal on high speed driving and you have personal instructors ridding along with you. Once your through the class, You just show up for all future races. If you live anywhere near the west coast, you need to race in this!! Beginer to full out racing, they have all catagories and you will have a blast. Here is the website for those interested.http://www.silverstateclassic.com/default.aspx Here are a couple of pics. |

I would love to do this race, but my car is limited to 118mph...
I actually live in vegas, so this only makes it worse. :(

There are a lot of turns and also the NARROWS which have 55MPH spped limit signs. Blowing through the narrows at 90MPH would give you a rush! Thats actualy a good speed for your first time out. |

Yes DO THIS!!!!!!!!!! im pretty sure the slowest class you can run is 95,so you can still run your 118 and be legal.I ran the narrows at 120,simply a major rush!!!!!!!and am working on getting the video up on utube.

I missed the last one, but if all goes well I'll be taking a 5th Gen on a trip up to Ely.
If not might just run a WRX with a buddy of mine. |

Yea, 150MPH will be a blast for average speed. I feel very confortable at this speed as I worked up to this with four previous races. You may have seen my cage I put in.
The race is just a small part of it. The after party in vegas is awsome. The party before the race, and also the mile and two mile shootouts. Fun packed four days! They are old cars to Lambo's all the way to Hennessy's costing over a mil. Some real bad as cars in this. you'll meet some cool people as well. |
