I've sent a request to NJMP and to Dominion Raceway to get an estimate on a private track day. Those are just two choices of dozens out there--and it may not even be something the group wants to pursue. But it'll give us an idea. I'll pop back in when they respond.

Good work, I forgot about Dominion! FWIW, here is an 'agenda' of how these guys host. Food for thought, doing the Track day event at the beginning is a good idea. Some may not want to track, so they could skip it and show up the next day. Even if we got 10 people to show up to this event, its going to be the largest collection of Z cars in one spot ever 'probably'! (not counting Oshawa lol) Wonder how we can get Pat T over here? 4/26 - Optional "arrive and drive" track day at AMP 4/26 - Welcome Reception and dinner at the Porsche Experience Center (we expect a very special guest that night) - Stay that evening at the Solis Porsche Hotel 4/27 - Drive to Track from PEC, Track day at AMP then Mountain Drives to Resort (Wolf Pen Gap!) 4/27 - First night party at event resort - Our favorite Bluegrass band plays in the lobby 4/28 - Mountain Drives - Tail of the Dragon, Moonshiner 28, Cherahola Skyway, etc. 4/28 - Afternoon Airstrip Event - Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to take Cystic Fibrosis Patients down the airstrip. 4/28 - Home Safe Happy Hour 4/28 - Live / Silent Auction to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 4/29 - Breakfast then Mtn. Drives - Some participants depart some stay one more night. Last edited by 1970judge; 06-16-2018 at 09:03 PM. |

From Jon Felton at Dominion Raceway:
Hi Dan, Thanks for your email. To have us put on a HPDE for your group like what we have 83 people signed up for tomorrow ( http://events.dominionraceway.com/hpdre/ ) is typically 10-12 grand a day depending on how many instructors and other staff are needed. A more common private event is to do a Track Attack intro deal like what we offer here every two weeks ( http://events.dominionraceway.com/trackattack/ ), that's typically $2500 for your group of up to 25 cars and only takes a few hours. Could also discuss a half-day TrackCross ( http://events.dominionraceway.com/trackcross/ ) which would be in the 5 to 6 thousand dollar range all in. Can add arrive & drive karting to this for $1000/hr (typically 2 races each for a group of your size) and add a lunch to this for around $15/head, not counting alcohol. Easiest is to all just sign up for one of these existing events already, we have several every month. But if you want to do your own thing, we do those all the time, and there you have it at three different price levels depending on how fast you want to go & how much track time you want. Would require contract & deposit this fall for any of those choices once a date is decided. Thanks again & hope it helps, Jon

Good info! Eventually I will post a poll to see what everyone thinks. Thats a tough sell unless we have many people attending, otherwise the cost per person is pretty high.
The catch is: We can invite more people. I wanted to keep this a Z centric meet. I think we all value the same thing in a vehicle and the same definition of fun. We could include 1LE folks, and ZL1 1LE folks as they too generally have similar interests. What I dont want is random Joe showing up to show off his chrome fuse box cover, and stick on this or that. There is plenty of car shows and meets for that. This is about running some country roads and potentially running a track day. |

I'm in. Just moved up from Dallas, so would be cool to meet up a similar group up here.

Quick math: If we could get 25 Z/28 owners to commit, then we're looking at a 400.00 private track day. I think we can work the price down if we do it on a week day, but to what $$$--I do not know.
Does the Porsche group open it up or is it specific to 993's? A poll is a great idea. "How much would you be willing to pay for a private track day" is a good question. Again, not pushing Dominion at all here. I'm in regardless of where it is.

I will definitely check around before making decisions. There is still AMP, a track in Charlotte, and a couple of others.
From what I can tell it is all GT3/GT3 rs guys, but I noticed a few dudes brought their Caymens and boxsters along. Still track and/or driving enthusiasts. It seems to be strictly "driving" types. |

There is quite a few of us up in SE Michigan, if that is a drive you're willing to make. We are working on a date to all meet up this summer before I return to Texas, oddly enough lol.

We run with the Porsche club out at Spring Mountain 4 times a year 1 day is $225, both days is only $350 and they let most clubs in as long as your car is safe.

Good option! We could always try to piggy back another groups rental, which would lower the cost for them and us!

To anyone reading the thread who is on the fence about tracking or a track virgin... Do it! You won't regret it, and if the guys can arrange a private event then you'll be able to track safe in the knowledge that everyone else is a fellow Z28 owner that will give you time and space to get upto speed. All the best to all from the UK. Patrick |
