Click/clunk noise

I've asked several guys and mechanics and was informed that the noise is normal but wanted to verify with other 1LE owners.

2015 1LE 22400 miles. when taking off i hear a click on clunk noise from the rear. i get two different noises. one of them is from the differential i checked the spline and axles all are tight and there is no play in them.

kept the car in a post and rotated the drive shaft by hand or even the wheels back and forth and the sound comes every single times.

the other one sound like a loose brake pad but all was good when i checked its like a clicky sound when turning at very low speeds while or while taking off.

so are these normal noises are is there an issue?

You should hear my ZL1 diff with offset delrin bushings, one piece aluminum driveshaft and aluminum subframe mounts.
Pretty clunky but very responsive.

Got the same.
It’s a more then little annoying.
Not the brake pads.
Not the axles.
I’m thinking wheels bearings?
I can’t make it happen but I hear it every time I drive.

Same here, i went to the dealer tried to make the noise but couldn't make it. they said it might be the click noise related with the axle shaft which there is a TSB for it for 2010 models. Not sure if this issue still existed on 2012 and up.

The clunk i've been informed was normal what about the click noise. Does adding washers and replacing the nut do the job like the TSB says for 2010 models?

mine actually just started doing it. It has 34k miles and I guess since I got it ive been doing some spirited driving and its breaking in lol.
I also seem to notice a whirring I guess you could say around 70mph. don't know if its just me or the drone from the exhaust.

I have had two 1le's, 13 and a 15, both have clunked the same. There is a lot slop in the drive-line.

The TSB does not pertain to your 1le, we have different axles than the regular SS.

See what a Z28 diff sounds like, talk about clunks and groans.

Had the same issue replaced both axle washers, problem went away. Axle washers PN 11611965 . Part goes behind the wheel hub so you have to take the whole axle out of wheel Bearing. Replaced that, new grease and new axle nuts and boom problem fixed . Axle nuts for regular ss PN: 11611687 SS 1le PN : 11611234.
No harm from this clicking sound , just a peace of mind

You can try to change the rear differential gear oil.
Start with the fluid as it’s cheap max $30 and 1 hour a couple beers.
I did the bearings and fluid with Amsoil.
No more clicking/clunk.

Here is what I found caused a mild knock in my car when taking off and often heard it when shifting gears. Best heard with windows up and radio off. Put the car on a drive on lift, grab the middle of the axle and see if you can move it in and out, parallel to the ground. My passenger side axle would move about an 3/16" and made the exact same noise as I was hearing in the car. Driver side axle did not have this in and out play. I swapped out the axle to clear the issue but haven't disassembled the 2 CV joints on the replaced axle to see why this is happening. The noise started like over night after approximately 12K miles on the axle.
