Motor Trend picked the Zl1 over the GT500 so not sure where you got your info. Sure the GT was faster in the quarter but they said the Zl1 had much better handling and braking.

@synergy but motortrend inst the end all be all look at all the other data logged by other magazines and owners va the ZL1 the Shelby beats on the ZL1 in almost every category.... The zl1 lap time was faster the first few laps then from what we can tell the Shelby pulled up to it. Also the ZL1 only breaked 1 foot further then the ZL1 . I love Chevy but the GT500 took a hot nasty dump on the Zl1 ... Us Camaro people seem to forget our Camaro's are not top dog in our house the Corvette is.

I agree with you Protomanx8 but I was responding to J666 that said Motor Trend picked the Shelby in every area which is not the case. Sure horsepower is the first thing in most peoples mind but if you don't have the handling and the braking ability which Motor Trend pointed out than at the end the Camera was their pick. True their not the end all authority but a respected source in most peoples mind.

I think it also comes down to the person wanting a harder car to drive. it's no knock against the ZL1 but look at all the people that owned Vipers for years. They're by no means an easy car to drive.
Either way if you handed me the keys to a ZL1 or a Shelby I wouldn't argue.

Performance is so similar it's a non issue. It's all about the driver and personal preference. And unless you've have owned/driven both, give up the argument. Arguing based on what you read in a magazine or on the internet is silly.
I've been tempted as well. I've always been a Chevy guy, but as you can get a comparable Mustang off the lot for a lot less, it makes the decision a tough one. For me, and many others, it's a muscle car thing, not a "Camaro" or "Mustang" thing. |

Blue with white for me. That's USA's racing colors. Love to have a GT500. ZL-1s are really cool but the mystique behind that Cobra would sway me in a heartbeat

In my opinion the ZL1 was a waste of GM's money to develop. Also a big waste of time, they totally failed. They had a good idea of what direction Ford and Shelby were gonna go and chose to ignore it.

that is not true, fact is Motor trend ignored the Shelby manual and did NOT change the brake fluid like is in instructed for track use, hence the Shelbys only real failing on the track was it brakes overheated, because MOTOR TREND messed up. It has been showed again and again if the manual is followed this is not an issue. honestly they basically chose the Zl1 because it rides better, the Shelby otherwise was the better performer everywhere........
