1SS 1LE or 2SS RS
Hello. First post on this forum, might as well make it a good one.
Heading out today to pick up a 2013 SS Camaro. I've been shopping for a while and recently had the chance to drive a couple different cars. I would appreciate some feedback before finally pulling the trigger. #1 - Used 2013 1SS 1LE w/ 20k miles. Over looks to be in great shape. New rubber. Clean history, from the looks of it was a GM Program Car. #2 - Used 2013 2SS RS Dusk Edition w/ 8k miles. Great Shape, local owner, Clean history. #3 - New 2013 2SS RS All 3 are priced within $1k of each other out the door. My current position: Despite negotiating my ass off, #1 seems a slight bit pricey b/c it is only a 1SS car however the 1LE package makes it super tempting. Also, maybe the 1LE will resell better down the road vs a 2SS RS. The #2 car is the best bang for the buck since someone else took the initial depreciation hit on it. The only drawback is the saddle interior, but i think i can get used to it. #3 is self explanatory to me. Why by a used car when I can get the exact new one for roughly $1500 more. This will not be my DD. I only plan to drive the heck out of it when the weather is nice and I have time. I will probably do an HPDE or what not at some point, but do not plan to be a track junkie. I have owned my share of Corvettes prior to having kids, my last one being an '08 Z06. Now just looking for a performance car with a back seat! Thanks for your help! |

It's just me, but with these types of cars and the limited price diff between #2 and #3 I'd go for the new car, because it may only be 8000 miles but you don't know what kind of 8K miles it was.
1LE I'd skip used, because it could have been an all track car or other things. Most folks don't buy that car to be a daily driver with that package. |

I'd go #2. That dusk edition is pretty cool, I like that interior. I think it looks classy plus the guy down the road isn't likely to have one too.

I tried taking my filter glasses off on this on and forget what I'd want and see what you want. What I would want would be the new car.
But, you said not a DD. That means you don't need all the fancy stuff that comes on a 2SS. You said you'd drive the heck out of it when the weather is nice and do some HPDE's. Well, I think 1LE is your bet. If you want to track then that's the way to go. If you don't like that 1LE just shop around for another one with lower miles or a better price.

if you plan on tracking it, then 1LE would be a good choice. If that isn't that important, go new.

Isn't a 1SS 1 LE new about the same price as a loaded new 2SS/RS?

I personally love the look of the dusk addition, the only downside to me would be the 21'' wheels as they are expensive as heck to replace. however, if this isn't a DD then that doesn't matter as much seeing as how they will last you a while. plus if you decide to sell it in 30 years it will be worth more than a regular 2ss/rs.
side note: 1le is a monster but if you don't autoX i feel like its pointless. plus if you do track it, I'd buy it new because the previous owner likely did and those 20k miles are hard miles.

If you plan to keep the car for some years and can swing it, go new. Then you will know that the car has been treated properly from day one.
Of the above choices, #2. The 2 SS has some nice features you will enjoy. |

1LE sounds sweet. But you don't know what type of things it has been thru with being a 13 and already has 2,000 miles. #2 I love the dusk. So that's a hard one because #3 is new so you know what you're getting. I personally wouldn't care new or used But these cars are performance cars and you never know. What color is #3 ? Because I think the 2SS is the sweetest thing too have and the hardest thing to add to your car.
