That I am not sure of, but I am willing to bet that Chevy wants something to compete directly with the Raptor

You are right, and it is. But people don't care about that, they want to show off. I see more Raptors come in the dealership with construction equipment and big tow hitches than I see with actual off road equipment. Factory mall-crawlers.

Ford is Supposed to be developing a Ranger version of the Raptor to compete with the Colorado ZR2

Tons of em around here, we call them pavement princesses. It's bad when my Camaro has seen more mud than some 'off-road' vehicles in this area... lol there are so many lifted Jeep Wranglers with huge tires, light bars, full spare and offroad jack on the back. All looking nice, new, shiny and clean lol

^The new mid engine corvette??? Sharp!!!

The second gen CTS is the quintessential Cadillac IMO that single handedly revived Cadillac's image from being a pleasantly expensive elderly cruiser to a powerful, violent force of an automobile. Somehow, it seems that the latest CTS is a tad quiet. Let's make some noise!!!

I guess i'm saying they have the right off-road platform already. They just need to pump up the volume.

Chevy will have to answer to a "Ranger Raptor" with the 2.7 EB.

This.

I think the ZR2 is hands down the better off road suited truck, especially on trails, but we all know bigger is better right. What's better than a ZR2? A bigger ZR2! (Well...that's not my opinion, but generally its true with most others)

I'd take a V8 sport Colorado or ZR2 over all else...full size or whatever.
