We want all season tires for the SS

I grew up in alaska, I've driven in stuff that makes anything anyone here in the lower 48 has driven in look like a normal commute (60 below and Ice Fog anyone?) Most cars aren't made for Alaska winters, however that says nothing about the lower 48. The SS will do fine here in Mass with snow tires. The ride height isn't that low where you have to worry about clearing PLOWED roads and driveways.

Also FEW cars are marketed as winter cars outside of AWD Subbies and the like. That mean you can't own a RWD BMW or Mercedes in the north??

The 20" part means NOTHING for snow. Only the width is an issue because it has the tendency to compact the snow instead of slice through it. They make snow tires for that size so pretty much end of story. The power also isn't an issue as your right foot and the gear you start out in has complete control over that.

Oh and there are quite a few large Mercedes and BMW's floating around here with at least 275's.

To say the entire car isn't designed to be driven in snow is idiotic. They do cold weather testing just for that reason. Had he said the summer tires weren't made for it...when then it would be a rather large ..DUH

I might if anyone could DEFINITIVELY tell me the bolting pattern. Some say 5 x 115 as usual; others say NO, 5 x 120 like the G8, others...

Even tirerack doesn't list wheels yet; tires- yes, rims- no.

I love how people get so pissy about this. Chill, seriously.

Not everyone has room to put a set of tires, or park an extra car, or have parents that can just bail them out on a whim (but they do help sometimes!). I live in a co-op I have a 1 car garage that just about fits my car, 2 bicycles, and a couple beach chairs. If i am gonna jam a second set of wheels in there they will have race tires as I spend more time doing that per year than driving in the snow. Yes I did when i had my vette have a second car, and it was a pain in the butt, having to find places to park, having to move it to the other side of the street when the parking rules changed, having to spend an extra $250 every 6 months for insurance, having to make sure it runs. Its much easier when you have property you can just park it on, but some of us don't. Its honestly annoying and not worth it for the 2 days a year like I said.

Its settled, when it does snow I will just drive through with the summer tires on because A) its just a car, and B) I know how to handle a car like this in the snow with no problem. I live in Long island, not Buffalo, or Alaska! Have fun in your winter beaters, I will be enjoying my camaro year round no matter the climate.

Ive driven my camaro with summer tires since Ive owned it. Maby not alaska tough, but chicago winters come darn close. I haven't had any issues...but then again Ive also been to lazy to buy some all season tires.

The thing about AK winters is they last half the year. The heck with all seasons. I'm going for winter tires for winter and summer tires for summer with 18" rims year round. Looks like I'll have to step down the rear brakes also.
