Est. to Real MPG for V6 & V8?

I was wondering if anyone at Indy got to talk to Scott or Al more about the fuel systems and their consumption.

I am curious to know what the latest estimated and "real" MPG is supposed to be for both the manual and automatics? Any more current ideas?

Some of the magazine articles seem to be way off from GM's more optimistic thoughts..

V6
Auto ?
Manual ?

V8
Auto ?
Manual ?

It seems the DI V6 gets an average of 16-19 city and 26-30 highway after breaking in.

For the LS3/L99 (I know its not in the vette) Im pretty sure itll get the same ratings as the Vette or close to it.

i cant remember exactly what was said, or the difference between the manual and automatic, but what i do remember is 27 highway for the v6, and 23 highway for the v8.

The LS3 will not get the same fuel economy as the Corvette because it is heavier and less aerodynamic. The L99 might get closer because of the AFM.

I also added in "close to it" as in itll probably be within 1-2 MPG as the Vette.

Also AFAIK the AFM will allow the A6 to get the same mileage as the M6 but not better.

Yeah. I really don't see the Camaro SS getting as great gas mileage as the Corvette. The Corvette is much more aerodynamic and has a smaller drag coef. It also weighs less.

Real world numbers depend mostly on driving habits, but I would say that getting 2-3 mpg better than the estimates should be fairly easy. I've heard of people cracking 30 mpg in their G8 GT, surely downhill with a tail wind but still.

From the info that was given at Indy......

V6 auto and M6 27 MPG Highway

V8 SS 6M 23+ MPG Highway with no “Gas Guzzler” tax…

AL stated GM is not going to build a gas guzzler. Also, folks remember the EPA MPG have changed to real world testing…

1-2 mpg better is what they're aiming for on the finished product/ final numbers.

See this web site for some comprehensive on road fuel economy tests:
http://www.truedelta.com/Chevrolet-Camaro/mpg-499

The window sticker spec on Camaro fuel economy is seldom realized in real driving.
I always suspected that a 402 cid-426HP-3900# RWD vehicle was not going to get 24 mph
under the foot of the average driver. From another website, Camaro owners report a range of 13.7 to 17.5 mpg in actual use (commute, city, hwy, joy ride etc) for 402 cid-426HP-3900# RWD that seems about right. I do believe the Camaro under controlled conditions can get the window sticker EPA rating
but, nobody is going to drive a 426HP car at 60 mph and 1600 rpm all day long.
