I ordered my K&N drop in on Monday, it was here on Wednesday from Phastek. took me all of 10 minutes to pull out the old filter and drop this in. Drove to work the next morning casual to let the computer adjust for change. On the way home I let her rip. Not going to lie and say OMG ITS SO FASTER NOW! But.... Throttle response was noticeably better. Over all a lot more satisfying, and for around 60 bucks. I feel like a CAI is probably a waste of money this time around. Very good purchase.. thanks for this thread and all the information inside.

Quick question. I remember reading something where someone said they would never put an oiled filter on a new low mileage car because of the slug it will leave behind. Are there any concerns regarding the oil from these filters harming the engine or clogging sensors?

My K&N drop in should be arriving today and my car has 800 miles. Wasn't sure if I should wait to install it?

THIS!

You never want to install the filter with the slug attached.

I guess what I meant to ask, over time are there any downsides to using an oiled air filter? Such as residue buildup on throttle body or issues with the MAF sensor?

Although, I believe any problems probably occur if the filter is over oiled during the cleaning process. Hate to sound like such a newbie. It's my first new car.

that's what i was worried about as far as the MAF sensor was concerned... but to be honest, I placed in the oil filter last night... had my girl drive it around normally today so the computer could adjust. I'll take it out later..

Still got with me with the "remove the slug"...but I just slapped myself... lol
