Question Tire Rotation for a 2SS?

I have a 2016 2SS with the oil change light on and for some reason I thought that the 2SS doesn't require any tire rotations. I did post in the mechanical section, but taking the car in for an oil change and the less visits to the dealership the better!

Per the manual, the tires should NOT be rotated if there are directional arrows or marked R or L. My previous Gen5 was a base model 6... just thought I might be able to get a quicker answer as I'm already going in for the oil change and would like to have everything done at once there.

Will leave them a message tonight or call first thing when they open to see if they can rotate the tires while the car is there. For some reason I thought that the 2SS didn't need a tire rotation. Feel free to correct me! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!!!

TL;DR - Does a 2016 2SS require a tire rotation???

Thanks again!

If u have the stock Goodyear F1's asymmetrics they are unidirectional as well as wider on the rear than the front. So no, they cannot be rotated.

The stock Goodyears on the SS are not directional. If you look at the sidewall there are no arrows to indicate direction. Therefore, they can be rotated side to side if you want. Obviously, you can't rotate from to back to front since they are different sizes.

Why would you need to rotate rotate side to side? If there is more wear on one side vs the other, sounds like some alignment check is needed to me..

if the tires are not directional then you need to rotate side to side. This keep the tread blocks from cupping on the edges which can cause wear issues and or early death to the tires.

OK... so that went backwards quick lol. So I do need to get my tires rotated.

I trust you guys more than the dealership which is why I originally asked here. The only thing I found in the manual was don't rotate directional or marked tires.

I'll let you know what the dealership says in a few minutes (I have a decent rapport with the Service Department Manager so will let ya know).

I'm not sure I see a point in the side to side, but I'm literally just waking up and will read the post on the wear if not rotated again.

Thanks again! Although I went from cool that's what I thought to confused lol.

Update: I wasn't able to talk to the Manager, but he'll be in Monday so will bring the car in on Monday morning for an oil change and tire rotation.

The lady I spoke to said if they're not directional, but wider in the back (which she believes is the case with the SS) they will rotate them side to side as was mentioned here.

Glad I asked as I was under the impression that they shouldn't be rotated as it seems a few other members were as well.

Thanks for the heads up otherwise I wouldn't have bothered and would have just had them change the oil and pump up the tires a bit more.

Not sure if this was directed towards me, but just following the manual on the oil change (light is on) and it is due for a tire rotation per the manual.

I was originally under the impression that the stock SS didn't need a tire rotation, but the manual says not to rotate only if the tires are directional or marked... and I don't see either.

Looks like the side to side posts along with the dealership confirmation both agree that I'm due for a tire rotation, but only from side to side. Now I'm questioning if this is even necessary.

Gotta love being a fanatic and obsessing over every detail lol.

Tires do not always wear evenly even if the alignment is correct. Rotating from side to side helps even the wear. The first two rotations are free and do not hurt anything. I rotate between 6,000 and 8,000 miles.
