Strategic use of "Up to" and "Estimated".

Quote:
This intake gives the LT1 up to an additional 24 horsepower
Quote:
The K&N 63-3092 AirCharger air intake system has been chassis dyno-tested proven to deliver an estimated 24.46 horsepower gain at the rear wheels over an otherwise stock 2016 Camaro SS.

it's partly sales people to blame but also the very unscientific way we have available to measure horsepower / torque (dynos).

So they technically can't make any hard claim. They will always have to use vague language. They just then choose to make it very flattering numbers vs more conservative ones. Which most people do.

Just out of curiosity, realistically what could be expected from a cai?

The Roto-fab CAI has proven its performance on the dyno, showing gains of 12 HP at JDP performance, 11 HP at CNC Motors, 9 HP at SCT Tuners, and 6 hp at JRE. All 4 tests were done on otherwise stock Camaros.

On forced induction builds, we have seen multiple tests showing gains of 40+ HP with the only addition being a Roto-fab CAI and re-tune.

A K&N decal alone adds up to 12.4 horsepower.

Here you go, real world. The stock airbox is really good on a stock car once you plug the horrible sound tube. But if you are going to add more power mods I think the aftermarket CAIs can be more effective.

http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=472259

From JRE:

Test 2 STOCK VS ROTOFAB DRY. 435 RWHP 438 RWTQ

Peak to peak gains are +6 RWHP + 3 RWTQ

Delta gains are + 6 RWHP +5 RWTQ

All gains are above 4400 RPM which is what we expected since the stock air box is so good.
