The 9500ix maintains a GPS database of false alarms in it, and can be updated via the internet. Hooking it up to the computer is the only way to do this, and helps keep it up to date and correct so that you're getting the best radar detector functionality possible.

Thanks,
Matt

I actually bought mine with a tax return a few years back. It's a very good investment!

Again I ask are you an authorized dealer? I could not find u on there current list, according to them you will have no warranty if you buy fron a non dealer. I really am looking for the escort 9500ci but at the price of 1200 dollar plus I must have a warranty. Thx

Hey, sorry about that, I missed the question. We're definitely an authorized dealer for Escort, we have been for years. I went to the website to find it and show you, but, you're right we're not there right now. I'm not sure why, honestly, as we've sold hundreds of Escort systems as an authorized dealer (maybe because we don't install them? I'm not certain). I'm getting in touch with my guy at Escort to get that corrected. Sorry about the confusion. The website should be fixed on Monday to reflect that, as, again, we're definitely an authorized dealer and have been for years now.

Thanks,
Matt

A visor mount makes for a very low profile installation, but there's no completely invisible install method for the 9500ix that has been popularized. I'm sure, with some ingenuity, it can be done (I've heard of more than one person using a custom wiring and sensor kit and a dash tray to install it secretly), but we don't directly sell any popularized product for doing this.

Typically, if someone's looking for more discretion, we advise them towards the visor mount, which is pretty low profile and easy install that doesn't require any crazy customization work.

Thanks,
Matt

The one thing it doesn't address is the deadly LIDAR. Still a cool unit tho.

LIDAR's a tough customer. You can't really jam or detect a beam of light in the same way you can other forms of speed detection. Thankyfully, LIDAR's have caught a lot of flak recently for being inaccurate thanks to streaking, sweeping, and shaky hand motion. The specificity of the LIDAR system requires really precise control of the unit. A number of states that had switched to LIDAR--which isn't many yet, honestly--have had LIDAR based speeding tickets thrown out regularly because of the irregularity of the system as result of human error while using it. Still, fighting something like that in court's rough. I wish there were a fool-proof way to detect/jam LIDAR.

Thanks,
Matt
