Post Airbox clip not staying

Recently i noticed the clip on the airbox wasn't staying closed. I have tried re-seating the top cover but i just cant seem to get the second clip to stay. Is this any cause for concern?

Did you change the air filter?

Three possibilities:
  1. You don't have the top of the air box properly aligned.
  2. You don't have the filter properly seated.
  3. The sealing flange on the filter is too thick.

No offense, but I find that operator error is the number one cause of mechanical problems, so check 1 and 2 first.

I took it to my local dealer to make sure the filter was in proper since it wouldn't close and they gave it back with the clip still not in and they spoke nothing of it so I assume it's not a big issue?

It's an issue. The air box needs to be securely closed.

Not much more I can do, since I can't see the parts, but you should take the filter out and start over. Take note of the tabs that align the top and bottom of the air box, and make sure you have them mated.

The dude at Jiffy Lube broke the clip right off my V6 airbox checking the air filter, the manager was very cool about and immediately offered to pay for it... Normally I would have been pissed, but I was like stuff happens.. By the looks of the airbox itself the clips looked kind of weak, but at least they are buying a new airbox.

Not for a V6, plus this is my daily beater. Not too mention they are paying the dealer directly

I used to spend huge amounts of money on mods... had a 2000 Stang GT with almost 15k in mods done to it, but now that I am 40... I just want the car for cruising. I mean don't get me wrong, I get on it, but modding out a car is not what I am into anymore. I just want reliable but Sexy looking transportation.
