To each of their own, I don't mind it but I am also tune deaf. The only audio device I have that sounds flat to me is this pair of $30 wireless headphones, but they are only $30 so I am not complaining.

Supposedly I have seen people with other cars with Bose system that don't like it.

I’m not an audiophile, but I do appreciate good sound.

The Mark Levinson in my 2001 Lexus LS430 is night and day difference to the BOSE in my Camaro.

Maybe it is the noise cancelling feature that is ruining it for me.

The Camaro 6 gen is a poor platform for great audio, try looking in Audio section for what others have done to improve the sound. There isn't much room to put great speakers in. The Auto noise cancelling may be holding u back too.

I think some of responses here are missing the point of the original post. Some of you may not think the Bose system is the best, but I find it hard to believe that a properly functioning Bose system sounds as bad as the OP is describing. The car had 46K miles on it so maybe something went wrong with the electronics or connections at some point.

defton31, is there anyway you can get into another 6th gen with the Bose system and take a listen? At least then you would know if the problem is with yours specifically, or you just really can't stand Bose.

I have looked at all the speakers and they are OEM bose/according to spec of vehicle, as well as the amp. No visible signs of tears or cracks. My goal is to figure out the curlpit before dumping money aftermarket. I just feel like there is no way Bose would sell a product as such. Are there any specifics/diagrams available of the radio receiver/connections from receiver that merge and talk to the Bose amp? Could my amp be in a protect mode? Any ways to reset???.... My bass is all the way up, mid- half way, treble- practically all the way up. The speakers are louder in the dash than the doors for sure. I have my headunit practically all the way max volume and it’s not that powerful.....Is there a way I can test the connectors with a voltmeter? Or would going on the dealership be safest/least hassle ? This is my second Camaro with stereo issues. When I had my 2016, the dealership told me I needed a new amp due to a service code... After swapping out the amp i also bought a new receiver in hopes it would clear up the sound, it did not...im trying not to run into the same problems :( any help and assistance is appreciated

is the FM radio, SXM Radio, and iPod inputs all sound the same? i find my ipod/iphone can sometimes lose most sound coming out of the of the door and rear speakers. sounds like shit. a reboot of the phone restores the sound. no idea why. i think the rear speakers are pretty pathedic overall. my 2011 had the Factory Boston Acoustics w the factory sub and the sound was more full.

I agree the Bose is not that great but it’s not horrible either. Bout the same as my dodge chargers base system. I did add a 12 inch sub and Amp to the the Bose which helped a lot. Just had to set it up the right way so the car wasn’t even more rattling than it already was lol!! Just good clean medium bass. the reason I went this route is because the bass on the cabin speakers were to much and sounded kinda vibrate/rattle like. So I adjusted interior bass way down to make the Audio clean and picked up the bass in the trunk with the sub. Much better now IMO

OP - any luck on tracing any of the possible reasons your system is sounding flat?

Agreed. Good description of how I feel as well as well. I have Bang & Olufsen in our Alfa Romeo, and JBL Synthesis in my Sequoia Limited, both are superior to the Bose in my 2SS. I have the $ubthump harness but that didn’t seem to help.

I’m really not interested in building an audiophile-level system in my Camaro, but if someone has some decent simple upgrades that can help, I’d be interested.

Since the stereo is integrated to the display touchscreen, climate control, and seatbelt/door ajar/backup sensor audible alerts, there’s no shortcut or cheap version of upgrading the system. The speakers are all matched impedance to the amplifier. So you can’t just install aftermarket speakers without installing an aftermarket amplifier, and you can’t install an aftermarket amplifier without an interface to convert the digital datalink to analog audio. It also provides universal standard RCA connectors which the factory amp does not have, it uses proprietary harnesses made only for the Camaro.

If you want better sound, you must commit to a complete sound system upgrade of all speakers, at least one amplifier, and either of the following interfaces depending on your model year (they completely changed the MyLink system for 2019):

2016-18 Camaros with Bose require the MOST50 from Pac Audio or M650 from NAV-TV. 2019 and up require the ZEN-AVB from NAV-TV.

Remember Sirius sounds like ass, inputs like the USB or aux (depending on your source) sound pretty decent in these cars. Is it perfect? No. Is it amazing? No. But it's not bad

I've noticed the Bose system boosts bass near idle or slow speeds for some reason. When I get going, I don't have to be going that fast for the bass to drop out and sound acceptable again.

However, I do have the bass set to - 4 and the mids set to +3. Still not quite as well balanced as my father's LX mark Levinson, but I don't think I was ever going to get there. Once you get it set so the bass isn't 6x too high, it's pretty astoundingly nuanced.

I appreciate everybody’s input. I bought/installed a ANC noise canx harness from Sub thump and it did pretty much nothing for my sound result. Something is certainty not right. The bass in my 6x9 speakers are faint, and it’s practically on full blast w/ EQ settings as well. Before I go aftermarket, I’m going to try replacing the speakers with new Bose OEM, and then take it to the dealership for a troubleshoot. Maybe the speakers are toast, and the damage is not visible?...No idea... I’m wondering if one of the connections at the receiver is faulty or amp too. It’s a mystery.
