Tune

Has anyone actually stopped the stumble issue that many of the 2017-2018
ZL1 have when leaving a stop light. I have tried 2 different throttle bodies and a throttle pedal controller. None have worked. Anybody have a tune they "Guarantee" will fix it ? I have tried working with GM but they have nothing to resolve it.

I haven't noticed anything that you describe on my 2018 ZL1....could you describe what you're feeling? And are you a manual or automatic transmission?

This is a good question, referred on this site as the dreaded "Bog" issue. Its the traction management I believe.

I have not heard it brought up many times lately, curious if there is a fix too.

My ZL1 is a manual. 2018 . It will fall on it's face when leaving a stop light . Just a normal take off not launching. Have tried 2 ported throttle bodies and 1 throttle pedal controller. I'm thinking about doing the elsd update to see if that would solve the problem. Anyone ever had that done for this issue and did it work ? I really like the car but have came close to being hit twice and need to get this solved.

Its the same for both my 18 SS 1le and the 17 ZL1 manuals. It doesn't really let you throw a lot of throttle into the clutch from a stop and I suspect, as someone above said, its part of the traction management system. next time I take the ZL1 out im going to see if turning of trac control helps. This always makes me feel like I don't know how to drive a stick shift lol.

Unfortunately i dont think you will totally resolve the issue without a tune for the M6 tranny cars

You can all call me crazy but here’s my theory on for the cause of the m6 stumble:

There’s a sensor on the clutch pedal that’s there to minimize strain on clutch from the high torque levels of the LT4. If it senses any amount of pressure on the clutch pedal it will, as pointed out in this thread (https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...pm&page=12#168), cut spark around 5000 rpm preventing the engine from reaching redline. I suspect this same sensor also cuts spark at low rpms when starting up from a stop where torque levels are also high. GM put the clutch pedal sensor there to prevent people from riding the clutch and prematurely wearing it out.

I'm not sure about a clutch sensor limiting torque at a slow take off but with all the electronics' on these cars i can see where some tech guy might think that would be a good idea. As far as having a tune done . That is not something i would like done on a car with only 6,000 miles on it and wave my warranty goodbye. I will see if I can find a Chevy dealer that has done the ELSD update and try that. Now to find a dealer in the Pacific Northwest with experience may be another problem .

I have never had my car bog on me from a soft take-off at a red light, nor from a hard launch. I do come from the old school. When I let the clutch out, I let the clutch out. Although my foot is touching the pedal, it is not resting on it. I've had a couple decent launches, you know, just the right amount of wheel spin, correct rpm, etc.

Maybe hawk02 is on to something?

Mine will let me ride it out if i take off like a newb and give it too much throttle to take off. It’s when i try to feather it that mine cuts.

Car is torn apart now so i will update as to whether a tune helps mine or not...fingers crossed
