Question Hey GM! How about a new Silverado SS?

And not an extended cab all wheel drive boat anchor. I would love a regular cab rear wheel drive Silverado packing an LSA. I saw a sweet early 2000s Lightning earlier today and it gave me an itch.

Hmmm two different beast's there. You want a street "sport" truck or a desert racer?

I would love to see one of each personally.... not sure that makes sense from a GM money making standpoint though!

I want them to bring it back. I also want to see an ultimate off-road truck.

I would love to see Ford come back with the Lightning. I wanted one of those trucks so badly back in the day.

GM has a Raptor fighter concept out there (picture below). While I like that truck I would like to see a street sport truck. With the exception of the wheels and some trim to differentiate it from other Silverados it should be easy to accomplish with parts already in their bin. I would think that expanded use of the LSA would reduce per unit costs and increase the profitability of all the platforms using it.

I never could understand the notion of using a half ton platform for a sport truck. Go down a size & get rid over 1000 lbs of excess weight. An LS3 (or I suppose since its a truck ... L92) Colorado will have a similar power to weight ratio as an LSA Silverado. You can already get a 5.3L V8 in those trucks. They could pull some other drivetrain components from the L92 Silverado to keep it durable yet cheap.

Better yet ... use the Canyon & call it a Syclone

One pretty quick little pickup!

I can see the draw of the full size sport truck though... hence what I drive now!
You get the draw of a full size truck but top it off with a touch of sporty. For me its a pretty damn good combo!
I would love to see a Silverado with a LSA and topped off with AWD. That one be a fun truck to drive!

I just don't like lowered trucks. If I want a fast vehicle, I'll use my Camaro. A truck should be for towing/hauling/off-roading.

But, I fully understand there's a big segment of car-buyers out there who like the lowered street/strip truck thing. I just never was able to understand the appeal, is all.
