You sir are behind in the times in regards to NASCAR. The cookie cutter cars are a thing of the past. The cars of today are the closest to the real deal that they have been in a long time with the new gen 6. What they race on Sunday looks like what they sell on Monday.

It's funny you say that because the Chevrolet SS is designed not to sell in large production numbers. They're expecting 5k-10k in sales based on price and low production. It's almost as if NASCAR has made it so undesirable to build them a car that GM decided to throw away the win-Sunday-sell-Monday ideology entirely.

You're only partially correct. Chevy actually initiated the Gen 6 car by telling NASCAR that they will pull out of NASCAR if they didn't let them use cars that look more like showroom cars. Apparently they were very close to pulling out of NASCAR. When the Gen 6 program started GM wanted to base their car off a car that had a good profile, and was V8, rear drive. You're right that GM doesn't care much how well the Chevy SS sells, they just wanted to race something similar to what they sell. I applaud them for having the only car in the Sprint Cup that is actually V8, rear drive from the showroom as well.
