Diffrenent color catch can lines.

Alright guys I have been searching for a while and have been unable to find a silicon or colored line for my Rx catch can that would booth work and look like what I wanted. So instead I made one.

I just took the lines that came with my catch can and wrapped them in electrical tape. I used blue scotch electrical tape that is rated for up to 221 degrees F and says optimum is 176 degree F.

Thought that was good enough to run in the engine compartment. I will be doing a little more testing to make sure they are safe to have under the hood if not out they go and I find another way of getting the look I want. I also sent Tracy an PM asking what he thought about running that under the hood. Will let you guys know his response.

In the mean time here are some pictures of the wrapped lines on my catch can

That was the first place I looked but since they were pure silicone they would corrode with time due to the petroleum in the oil.

Thats a good idea, I have some red oxide silcone tape I may end up doing that too it looks pretty good, better than the plain black ones.

Thanks.

And just and update Tracy responded and said there should be no problems with doing the electrical tape. So looks like its a go to keep it on there for now.

Really good idea!
The black hoses are too boring to have, especially under a CAMARO's hood.
My painted IM and TB will coming soon from Tracy.

I know I have been looking for them but nowhere seems to have them so this is a temp solution until i can get some.

Don't mind at all. Glad I could help. But it looks a lot better with the colored lines in my opinion.

There are two reason I didn't go braided. 1) they are very expensive and I don't have the money right now. Being a student out of high school and no job doesn't really help. Hoping to change that soon 2) I wanted a diffrenent look

But in truth this isn't going to be permanent thing. Once I buy my MRT exhaust and start saving some money I will go ahead and find some nice braided hoses.

Now also today I did go for a 20 mile drive in the Florida 100 degree weather and recorded the tempature of the lines. When I started the car the lines were the temp they were I'm the garage. 87 degrees. 10 miles into the drive the lines recorded a temp of 114. After the other 10 miles and I parked the lines were 130 degrees. Now this was with some pretty spirited runs in the back roads in the middle of no where. I did some wrong pulls from third to fourth.

So with that recorded I'm pretty sure the lines will stay well below the 221 mark that the tape is rated for.

No worries. I totally understand being on a budget and I like your idea.

I have really been thinking about switching all of mine over to braided, so it's been on my mind.
