Have not been back to Maine to visit my granddaughters in 8 years, God knows how I miss them. I "had" scheduled a flight during school vacation, departing NC on April 18th and returning from Maine on April 25th. Purchased the ultra low fair, the ones where NO MONEY BACK OPTIONS! An email from American Airlines advised me they would credit me the $340.00 for a new scheduled flight in the future, I believe before December 2020. I had saved a fistful of money so I could really have fun with four of them. We have five granddaughters, the fifth who is all grown up living in Tampa visited us in October and again spent Christmas with us. All the girls are being extra careful, schooling at home. Hard to imagine the son at home 24/7 with a nutty wife and four girls, one dog and 2 bathrooms! I don't even know why I am typing all of this, guess I am bored with being locked down! My prayers are out to all my Forum friends, praying you stay safe and take this seriously. Just read where the "Spring Breakers" went to Mexico to party, returning a couple dozen popped positive. People have to think of the elders! God bless all of you.

Thanks for the info. Been wondering how he was. That’s better than no news.

I know our dealership is getting hit hard, economically. The service drive is about a 1/4 of normal. I've lost three deals this week alone because of the uncertainty of the markets. The freeway we're located on is typically a log jam all day, now it looks like a Sunday morning.
We've been pretty much on lock-down since the governor declared a stay in place and only essential services remain open.

No visitors, no volunteers, no legal visits, no deliveries, no outside work crews, etc.

We have a questionnaire at the door to fill out and sign to pre-screen everyone, we're taking the temperature of everyone coming in, they must stay 6 feet apart until they clear checkpoint, etc.

No inmates and no staff have COVID-19 thus far in our institution.

If an inmate were to get it and depending on his preexisting conditions, he would be quarantined and/or sent out to the hospital. They would not keep him in general population within infectious distance of other inmates.

Keep in mind, I work in Maximum Security, so a lot of our inmates are locked down in individual cells 23hrs a day before the institutional lock-down ever happened. A max unit holds 24 to a pod, and there are 4 pods for a total capacity of 96 Max inmates per unit on the high side.

We also have death row housed here.

So unless I get it, I won't be affected at all. Even if I did, I have accumulated enough vacation, sick and comp time to take over 7 months off with pay. lol

I deliver meds and supplies to nursing homes, I won't be effected. The only issue
is the cross-pollination. Instead of keeping people on the same route all week, they
switch around, which is NOT good. They should be keeping people on the same
routes during this to limit exposure. But, we have the few cry-babies that complain
about pay every week, so the MINORITY wins again.

Currently not working. My wife is considered Essential as the company she works for makes a part that’s also used in making ventilators. It’s been almost 3 weeks since we recovered from what we assume was COVID-19. All of this started around March 3rd. Let me tell you that this thing is NO DAMN JOKE! My wife was the first to get sick with a dry cough and slight fever and body aches, but within a 12 hour period my teenage son and I came down with it too. We were tested for the flu and it came back negative, but there were no test available at the time for Coronavirus, so we all quarantined at home. My son only got a low fever and a slight cough, but man did it hit me hard!

I’ve had colds and flu’s throughout my life, but nothing compares to this thing. The fever I had registered at one point over 103 degrees. The body aches, joint pain, chills and chest pain were unbearable. I had shortness of breath and a nagging relentless dry cough that just wouldn’t let up and kept me up many nights. I had no appetite and hadn’t eaten in 3 days and was weak and delirious. I remember at one point telling my wife that I wanted to just die already. That’s how bad it got for me.

I have to give thanks to God that at the very least he spared my wife and son from getting as sick as I did and allowed us to live another day. By the fifth day, my fever was down and my cough was just about gone. Took us all a couple weeks to feel somewhat normal, though I still don’t feel 100%. My heart breaks for all those people we are losing everyday in this country. I pray that people will just listen and take this more seriously. That this nightmare we are all living will end very soon.

Up untill now things have been kind of normal here and my job all ok.
but the problem now is sourcing materials for our job as a floor fitting company and ceramic tiling company. most of our materials are made in the uk spain germany and italy. all 3 of those countries are locked down.
we were sent an e-mail warning us there could be lay offs..hopefully not.
lucky for us though we have no mortgage.all paid off 3 years ago. we have no loans at all.
wife is a specialist nurse so ofc her job is safe.
we may have to live a basic life for a year or two and live off her salary.
worrying times for sure..i lived through 15 percent interest rates in the 90's and knwe we had to pay off our mortgage when the times were good.

Wow... that's one hell of a sickness and thanks for sharing. What a relief for you and the family to have gotten toward the end of this thing. The folks like you that caught this early didn't really have any help at all. That's one reason this quarantine is important so the medical community can catch up and get some sort of treatment going. The longer we can go without getting it the better treatments will get.

mlee- No problem and thanks for the kind words. In hindsight, I just can’t believe how fortunate we were. Seeing how bad this thing has gotten and how every corner of the globe has been affected is completely mind blowing to me. Makes me very sad. I strongly believe had the “Chinese government” given the world an early warning of just how bad the situation really was there, the rest of the world would have had a better chance to prepare or avoid this disease altogether. But that story’s for another day. I just pray that everyone on here and their families all stay healthy and safe. Social distancing will be our saving grace.

Same exact symptoms that I had/have. I have zero appetite. I have no idea where I got it. It would have to be from the grocery, ATM, or from a delivery. But I still caught it, even following CDC guidelines. I am 6 days in, and today was the first day I was out of bed for more than 1 hour/day.

I am currently not working, even before I got sick. Some detailers began by thinking this was an opportunity to "cash in." They were making unsubstantiated claims, like "Steam cleaning kills germs!" It doesn't. Well, if you leave the steam in 1 place for 3 minutes, it will. But then you tear up the car. I shut down from the very beginning, not wanting to endanger myself, or my customers.

I am one of the lucky ones for sure though, physically and business-wise. I have had a plan and savings for an emergency and when I saw this coming in January, I implemented the plan. I also made my adult kids follow the plan. They thought I was insane at the time, but they have money, tp, water, ramens, pet food, etc to last for 6 months.

Next time, and there will be a next time, hopefully we can get the lockdown implemented quicker and be back to normal sooner.

Terrible, I hope those on here affected recover. Social distancing is our best option.

To those who are still healthy please do everything you can to stay that way!

Even those just impacted in other ways, be it employment and what not, I truly hope the best for all of you.

Stay safe, stay healthy and hopefully we get out of this soon.
