Cam Swap Quote - Is this accurate?

I reached out to a local shop and they provided me with this quote. Is this accurate or overpriced?

That's competitive pricing.

Here is my original quote request:

To whom it may concern,

I am reaching out to request a quote for my 2013 Camaro SS 1LE to swap out the cam, valve springs, push rods, supporting bolts and gaskets, and would like to hear of any other suggestions to replace while swapping it as well. I'd like to put a big cam in it that has a significant lope. Of course I would need a dyno tune included as well. I only need it tuned on 93 as I am not running E85.

It currently has a Cold Air Inductions cold air intake and I am putting on 2" Texas Speed long tube headers this upcoming weekend.

If you could shoot me over a quote breaking down the cost of the material and install I would appreciate it. Also if you could specify would brand and size cam you recommend that would be helpful as well.

I am from out of town, I am about 15 minutes north of Louisville, KY. If you could provide a lead time on the install so I could plan my travels I would greatly appreciate that as well.

I look forward to potentially doing business with you!

Thanks,

I read through a couple of threads on here and people were talking about pricing being in the 2500-3000 range. Times have changed and I was unsure about the market nowadays.

I appreciate the input everyone.

It's higher than I paid in 2019, but so is everything else. That's probably not an outrageous price in today's market.

Instead of getting a cam with "significant lope" you could get one with significant power gains?

Either way, you will probably need a higher stall torque converter.

For this day and how things are cost wise, looks like a pretty good price for the job, also as stated, didn't see any lifters listed. Good luck.

That's pretty good IMO. I personally wouldn't price shop rather have a shop that knows the platform vs one that doesn't.

Yes this for sure. It's the most important thing about the shop performing the work. I would look for a shop with good google reviews and not necessarily a big shop just one that you can ask questions like how long will you stand behind your work and they give a legitimate answer. Also ask them if they will pay for the labor if something goes wrong from a part that they installed. And the dyno tune is important but not a deal breaker either because you can always get an email tune from an experienced tuner on the hp tuners forum or a well know place. And like gtstorey said you will need a higher stall converter and a transmission cooler with that big of a cam.

They give 23 hours for a camshaft replacement. At $2500 that only $108 an hour, That's a good hourly rate. $130-$150 an hour is common. Also I agree with others about the shop doing the work/Knowing the platform.

Line #1: DOD conversion. You're 1LE so manual transmission ergo no DOD lifters. Probably no biggie but little stuff like that always gnaws away at me. Definitely a fair price if it's a reputable shop.

I just reviewed the estimate again. No head gaskets so no head removal. I'd kinda like new/upgraded lifters with my cam especially if I'm forking over a good chunk o' cash.
