Oil pressure gauge maxes out 4700RPM and up
As the title States oil pressure gauges just pegs max at anything over 4700rpm it will stay maxed as well as long as you are over that RPM and it's not gradual watch video is this a issue or normal operation?

Wouldn't hurt to take it to the dealership to be on the safe side.

That is not normal. Back when gauges were mechanical, this behavior typically meant that the car was low on oil.
Since this is digital, it could be a bad sensor. I would check the oil level when the car is up to temp and if it looks good, you should see your dealer. If the oil is low, top it off and see if the problem goes away. |

Oil Pressure Sensor/Sender is shot.
Should be something the dealer could handle while you wait, granted they have the part in stock. |

My oil levels were fine Should I drop this in the General forums not everyone comes to the issues forum unless they are having an issue and V6 owners might not even notice it especially if they have their display configuration not to see the oil pressure. And those without the configurable display might never even go to the oil pressure option. |

To me, it seems like the sending unit is getting "stuck" or lagging or something of that nature. It goes up at a pace equal to engine speed and then BAM it spikes. Or, its "normal"- aka they all do it and the design sucks. |

When I checked the oil it was 1/2 way up the dipstick (~1qt low) so I topped it off to see if this would correct the issue. It's still spiking so I will have the dealer check this Monday when I go in for an oil change. I've heard that dirty oil and/or low oil is one of the main reasons these engines could have timing chain issues down the road so I've made it a point to change it early and often, every 3-4K vs what the mfg recommends. I've never noticed the gauge spike like it did yesterday so will definitely try and determine what the issue is as it doesnt appear to be normal.

I didnt see this post years ago, but the oil pressure moving like the OP posted is normal. The oil pump in these engines is a 2 stage pump design. Runs a lower oil pressure at lower RPM's and then boosts up once the RPM's climb up.
The oil pump isnt like the old years, it is a stator design that is run off of the crank shaft if my memory is right.
