Heartland park in Topeka is great, have driven there before. And...for the large oval folks, maybe someone could work out a deal with Kansas Motor Speedway?? Only about 30 min from Topeka.

Nashville is a great centrally located city. Bowling Green and the corvette plant is 60miles away. It is a destination city, has great accommodations, attractions, a track and also has the largest private Yenko Collection in the country (could arrange a viewing of the collection- I know him pretty well).

I think something not based in S. Georgia would be more amenable to all. Even though I live in Atlanta, I think something that far south makes it more difficult to attend. My kids would love to be able to see/do something other than me ogling cars. Nashville fits that bill - IMHO.

I just have this gut instinct that tells me to not make any plans next year for any camaro shows yet.... not sure why but I have this feeling there is going to be the ultimate Camaro show for 2011 that nobody will want to miss....

so I would hold off on making any plans for 2011 for now

I think it should be more to the center of the USA, then everyone wouldn't have top drive so far. Then you could get people from all over the USA.
Of course not being from the C5 staff.... I don't know what the COST was to put this on and WHO paid for it.
I still Vote for CENTRAL USA !

I was at Ga. and had a GREAT time, everyone seemed to like my POLICE CAR CAMARO ,... will be there next year !

St Louis or Memphis

I personally thought the Valdosta location was great and will be hard to beat! St Louis or Memphis wou both be located on East/West interstates and more centrally located. I sure would hate to see it moved for a less quality location. Theres alot of room to grow at Valdosta. My two cents....My first time on an autocross:

I can tell you from my sales..and numbers I have seen GM post, FL and Texas are the two biggest Camaro markets historically along with California. Personally, the drive for me was 15 hours..and that is about as far as I am willing to drive for a car show..especially when we have our trailor and are displaying.

GA was nice...no real complaints. The only kink I really see is having the event 30 miles from the host city can be confusing. Also if the event gets bigger, I don't think the Holiday Inn can handle all the cars. I know once the first two hotels were booked, I ended up staying 2 miles away, which kinda seperated us.

I have been to shows in Bowling Green at the Vette museum and found that area great for a show like this. There was an F-body show in Sepetember there for several years that we went to. The Museum has tons of room, and is a great get together place. You can have seminars in the conference rooms, check out the Vettes, shop at the store, and tour the Corvette factory. There also are a lot of hotels in area because of all the car shows the museum has. As for a track, Beechbend raceway park is right there (also has drag strip and oval). Also another advantage is the Museum has these shows all year, and can handle a lot of the actual organizing and logistics.

In reality it will be a catch 22. If the same people organize it, it will be easiest to use the same place over again..especially if they are close to that area. If you move it every year, then it is like starting over, and the logistics are always an unknown beast. However if you keep it at the same place, there is also the chance that the location becomes stale. To get people to drive 10+ hours like many did will require something different every year.

Never mess with location on something that works. We moved another convention this last year to make some members closer on the west coast. The attendence fell so much it was cancelled. Now the economy had a lot to do with it but we also got feedback that the users that went every year did not feel the new location would be as good and it was farther away from them. In the end the members that were closer and had begged for it still did not register in large numbers and so that finished it off.

Not saying one or the other just saying be careful messing with successful events.

I think Texas would be good; there's a lot of performance car companies there and it's reasonably located for both coasts. I couldn't go to the fest because it was just too far; couldn't get that much time off from work. 6 days of driving and about $2,000 in gas just to get there and back was just too much for a couple days of activity.

And population density doesn't really matter as much as Camaro owner density, and even more specifically Camaro5 member density. There are a LOT of us out west. You could easily see a 200-300 car caravan coming from California. It would be like a rolling fest all by itself lol. Gas stations and restaurants along the way would think they'd died and gone to retail sales heaven.

And make it a 3 day event at least; even a 4 day. Even though I wasn't able to go I was just amazed at how fast those 2 days went by when I was haunting the forum reading the updates and looking at the photos people posted. I can imagine how fast it must have felt to have gone by if you were there. All that build up and hype for 6 months then it seemed like a couple of blinks of an eye and it was over; just like that.

I know it's more for the organizers to do but it might help to break up the track days into 2 separate days with that many cars; have one day be a vendor, modders, show car day; then the last day for bbq, drinks, socializing and just hangin out with each other. Give everybody a chance to meet each other without having to go anywhere to do anything that day other than just socialize.

Just my 2 cents on it.

$2000 in GAS?!?!? What are you driving, a Frieghtliner?

We are listening, guys...the next Fest is probably not going to be until '11 (the once annual thing seems to be a good formula)...but we're listening.
