but then again, some people don't have that mindset, and that's ok. just don't see why, if someone wants a weapon, to make them feel better, why it's questioned.

Some people just don't get that, "we're southern people, we do things in a different way"

why not just get a concealed carry license? A baseball bat would look a bit ridiculous and probably wont offer much protection to begin with. It's also a weapon associated with hoodlums so police would probably give you a hard time for it. On the other hand it is your right to bear arms with the proper licensing.

You do not need a license to have a weapon concealed in your vehicle per "castle law" as long as it is secured and not visible

I think I'd mount a Samurai Sword or a Chainsaw instead.....or maybe I wouldn't mount anything and get a concealed carry permit instead. A bat mounted in the trunk of your car won't do you any good whatsoever for defense, and if you ever did tune somebody up with it you'd stand a great chance of being prosecuted for assault regardless of the circumstances because you had it prominently mounted in your car.....a sane person would wonder why someone (other than maybe a MLB player) would mount a bat in the trunk of their car.

It's your car though, so knock yourself out (don't use the bat to do so though)

I've lived in the north and the south. I don't think that has anything to do with it. I do not feel a need for a weapon, and others do. I am ok with that, and that is where I guess we should all leave it.

Is this true? Am I really not allowed to keep a bat for show/self defense locked away in my own property? Its a locked compartment...

I want to put it here

Why not just do this?

I love living in Texas.
Loaded handgun concealed within reach is 100% ok in the vehicle
Hell, my truck usually has a loaded AR in it. You never know:p

Buddy of mine has a loaded AR in his 06 GTO trunk at all times. And he's had to pull it out before. Someone came at him with a knife at a car wash while he was getting items outa trunk he held it up. Told him to think about his choices. Guy bolted.
