Yes you can, but we are wondering about trunk access. This has been possible in both 5th gen coupe and vert and 6th gen except for some reason ZL1 1LE. Maybe it took GM this long to finally realize you you can pop the trunk by applying power to the under hood posts? What if I have $1M cash in my trunk that I embezzled i want to get it out fast without looking for someone with jumper cables.

If that happens call me and i will come help you.

But yes you can open the trunk after attaching the cables under the hood.

Get a jump start. Is this a serious question?

Suppose someone is pulled head first in to their one car garage. Know anyone with 25' jumper cables? But I would just use a charger on the under hood posts. Oh wait. Don't have one. That's OK, I'll run to Wallyworld and get one. Oh, dang, can't, my battery's dead!
F**k it, that's what Roadside assistance is for.

I purchased a 2017 Convertible used and the extender was not in the glove box. Does anyone know the part number? I've had no luck searching for it myself. Might need to have the dealer order it.

There's no number stamped on the part. Looks like a plastic socket that's flat on one end. You probably will need to check with the parts department at a dealership.

Interesting. Now that I think of it, I keep my jumpstarter in my trunk. Maybe that's not a good idea . . .

On my Zl1 (not à 1LE) you can move fwd the back seat with the handle at the top center,
Then access the trunk via the hole behind the rear seat,
Then open the trunk from the inside with the emergency handle (close to the 3rd brake light)
Then your trunk is open, you can access your battery to change it or charge it....

Or as mentioned, charge it from the engine bay with the specific connexions

When you decide to disconnect the battery on purpose (winter time...)
You can’t charge it from the engine bay, only way via the trunk ;-)

I’ve got another question related
I will disconnect my battery for 6 weeks (shipping via container over sea)
One key will be in the car
If I close the trunk, like said the only way to open it is from the inside via the rear seat...
Is there a possibility the car will lock itself with the a good remote inside and a disconnected battery like if there is a safety battery to save the data’s ?
If so the only way to access the locked car is via the manual key ?

Yes that is a good one, Bought it on line. You can also charge your cell phone with it.

They also have smaller, Lithium jumps that you can carry in the car.

Glad you mentioned that. My Lithium Battery jumper is in the trunk my wife's car which is newer than my Camaro. I was going to put it in my trunk since mine is now 2 years old. I think I'll just put it between the front seat back and back seat so I can open the door with the key and access it. They are nice and small so it will fit there. It may not be powerful enough to start the V8 but it will provide enough power to open the trunk to get at the battery.

These new cars try to throw a curve ball at you all the time with all the electronics.

Old thread... funny story that relates.

My 16 Camaro... original battery died tonight. Too dead to jump start. So I went to exchange the battery. Shut the trunk. Yeah... dumb. Now the worst part, I have a custom sub box with 3 10s and three amps. No way to go through there.

I can say with certainty you can use jumper cables to give you enough juice to open the truck even with no battery. For a bit I was really upset though. And replacement batteries really don’t fit as well. lol
