Upgrading Convertible Exhaust

Hey guys,

I'm wanting to upgrade my exhaust here in the next few months and could use some suggestions.

I have a 2014 Camaro SS Convertible, Automatic Transmission. No GFX

I recently bought a quad tip diffuser and am looking for a cat-back exhaust with quad tips and decent sound. Nothing crazy loud, but louder than OEM. (I will also be adding in long tube headers).

Another question I have is should I go with an exhaust with quad tips or get an exhaust with dual tips and add in quad tips?

If you’re not a GFX car, go with the NPP exhaust. As for headers, everyone has thier own opinions. There is a sound clip of mine that Rontammy0 posted in the what have you done to your Camaro thread. Good luck!

Solo Mach XC on my vert, it’s an automatic like yours. My concern was drone, the solo sounds like old school muscle and zero drone.
Recently added a set of Kooks headers with high flow cats and it sounds amazing to me.

Good luck!

I went the cheape route and just did a muffler delete. Sounds *OK*, cost was $150. At some point I'll upgrade things but for now, this is a nice and easy mod. I've got an automatic with those HUGE resonators so I think doing something with those next might be my next path.

I was actually looking at the Solo Mach XC, how much louder is it vs stock? with and without the headers if you can remember.

I was thinking about doing a muffler delete, but felt like it wouldn't make to much of a difference on automatic.

It’s a deeper tone than stock, sorta classic muscle car sound. Not raspy and drone.
Stock exhaust is not loud at all so you definitely notice the change however I always was scared to mess up the drivability of the convertible, I still want to be able to chat to the passenger.

Ran the solos for 2 years before adding kooks, now it’s much louder at WOT but cruising around it’s a delight.

I would say watch so video clips for some examples but the clips don’t do justice

That sounds about what I was looking for, wanted something that makes it sound more like a muscle car but not so loud that you cant talk inside the car.

Had Solo Performance Axel back put on my 2011 SS convertible and I love it! Much better sound, but not overwhelming. Well worth the $500 I spent.

If you want to reduce drone, make sure the exhaust tips extend beyond the diffuser at least 1 inch. If the tips are flush with the end of the diffuser (or under the diffuser) there will be drone inside the cabin when the convertible top is up.
