Was that your car in the dirt Matt??!! If it was at least it looks like the car escaped any real damage other than some "Mud in the tires".

Also I see you are now using Stop Tech 660 brake fluid? I'm curious as to why you switched from the Motul 600? Or was it just a matter of what you had on hand when you did the CTS-V brake swap?

Yes...that was me. If you watch the incar video link in the post you can see the light spin and I backed it into the mud

The Stoptech was readily available and the 660 has very similar temp range as the Motul 600.

How is your alignment working out? Both street and track? -1.6 fronts and -.6 rears right? This is also what I'm running but don't have the miles to see how the tires will wear. I'd like more camber if I could get away with it on the street without destroying the inside of the tires.

Good question! For the front I wore the outside edges off at a tire abusive track (Gingerman) but never rolled them past the triangle indicator on the side. Temps across the tire were pretty even, but I will have two new front installed on Monday and then I will have it aligned to -1.9/2.0 and try that.
I will run the car at two different tracks Memorial Day weekend and will post my results.

I put 305s on the rear so that is why I stood up the tire (less camber) to try to help the car rotate. I am happy with the outer edge wear patter at this point so I am going to leave that where it is.

I am still trying to find the sweet spot.

Forgot to mention. My 1LE is not a daily driver so I can't speak about tire wear on the street as I am on my second set of rears and going on the 3rd set of front in 9000 miles. I don't wear the center treadout, only the outer and inner edges at the track.

It was OK/fine......I will be going with 285 in the rear if I keep the 285 on the front. I would prefer to go with a 305/305 so I may make some changes over the summer.

Enjoyed reading your build thread Matt.

One question, so how much did you lower your car front and back, and did you level it out?

Thanks John,

About 15mm in the front and 30/35mm in the rear. Yes it is level now. The most recent picture is below. that is a 285/305 combo so the rear tires are taller.

Ride heights: Measured in mm from the bottom wheel lip (not the ground) to the fender....If you want inches divide the number by 25.4 (25.4mm = 1")

The primary purpose of the cover is to reduce intake and valve noise. But it also traps heat as well as adds weight while making the engine compartment more visually appealing to the masses.

For me, weight on top of the engine and it acting as a heat trap were enough to get rid of it for about a year......But I have been focused on the ugly coil packs and the though of what (minimal) protection it offers to the wiring, injectors, coil packs ect......

Below is my best of both worlds modification/compromise I made over the weekend. I removed the sound deadening material underneath, cut the center section out, fabed a quick bracket on drivers side and painted them flat black. I got the look I wanted, reduced the weight, removed the heat trap and got a little protection for the wires.

How does it handle without the strut tower brace?
