Looking at the axleback pic it looks like it has 3-2.75 adapters to bolt up the the stock midpipe, so later a 3" midpipe coming off the cats would be perfect. I still need to check on this.

Guys, Hooker BlackHeart offers 2 types of axle backs, one is a single transverse design w/ an internal x-pipe and the other is a true dual mufflers. the single muffler is very conservative, while the true dual is a little more aggressive but not obnoxious. Both systems are made out of 3" but the bypass pipes are 2.5". The reason for the 2.5" and our goal was to create a bypass but not make it sound like a muffler delete raspy tin can. With the 2.5" diameter, the bypass is supported but still allows minimal flow to pass through the mufflers, ultimately still maintaining a good, aggressive, quality tone.
The 2.75" adapter pipes are made to be able to mate to the OE mid pipe and with the ability to remove them and convert to a full exhaust as Hooker BlackHeart sells mid pipes to make this conversion. This allows the consumer to upgrade without having to buy a complete kit in the future. Hope this helps out. |

I have heard this system in person inside the car and outside and it's amazing.

Did you mean the single muffler Hooker NPP axleback or the complete LTs to axlback hooker system?

The Hooker single muffler axleback listed a few posts above. It is just a few notches louder than stock and probably sounds the best with LTs that I will do later. That sounds about what I was looking for. But I can't find out much about the 2 piece Hooker LTs from anyone. There are very few SSes that have done LTs and I haven't seen any Hookers. I almost wrote another joke about Hookers but I stopped myself.

Frax you are incorrigible! But I think it is very wise to go with slightly more conservative exhaust system.
It has been my experience that cars allows end up getting louder (due to other add-ons, etc...) and the exhaust can take you over the top to obnoxious if you're not careful. |

I'm actually interested in the dual transverse system over the single, but it does cost more. I'm waiting to go for the 2" headers and full exhaust though. I contacted Holley to ask if they did a package deal and they offered me 5%, but seeing as I could get that at Phastek using Lethal's code I'd try and push for 10%. I'm not in a position to drop nearly $3k on metal tubes right now, though, anyway. Would love to see more Hookers out there! Definitely my number one choice. |
