I love my Camaro, and I'm not going to be upset if the Z28 costs in the $70k's. Would I sell my SS to buy a Z? Probably not. Will someone else. Probably. Will I be thrilled as sh!t to see GM produce a Camaro that will stomp the b@lls off of 'exotics' that cost over 3 times as much. Damn straight.
Build it. Price it whatever it needs to be. We'll still buy other models and love them, and I'll still hang a poster of a Z28 passing a Porsche in my garage. This version of the Z is exactly what I was hoping for. A lightweight, NA monster. Good job GM! Thanks for bring back the Z!

For those complaining about the price, move on. I for one am glad they built a "real" z28 instead of another sticker badge mobile. The people who can apeciate what Z28 stands for will understand.
In 1967 a Z-28 was not a well mannered car by any means, and it was built with a purpose. Racing. Fast forwar to 2014. Car is built for? exactly. racing. And so it should be. Its still licencable unlike a copo, and people who appreciate them for what they are will still buy them for street use just as was done in 1967. The car has come full circle and I applaude GM for the direction it took.

You know not many will be made.
You know all the special parts will add $$$. You also should guess that GM does not slap sh!t together they buy off the internet and ship it. They are not going to sell at a loss. Think its cheap to spend a couple years developing and validating this specific model? Trips to different tracks... salaries... test parts... overhead costs...tooling costs Last edited by Fish-man; 05-30-2013 at 12:34 PM. |

1969 Z built for racing, yes because of the boss 302. Would you rather have a 396-375HP SS or a 290HP Z28. I'll take the SS every time. Lite to lite, where we drive, the SS was the car to have. I'd take a new Boss for 44,000.00 in a heart beat over a 75,000.00 Z28. Chevy blew it for the regular guy period. Very easy for them to cam an Ls3 with better intake and exhaust and get their 505 HP. Better suspension, 505HP for 47000.00 and we beat the Boss and we're happy. They made rich people happy and gave themselves bragging rights. Good luck to all us regular Chevy guys.

No way its going to be close to $70K. When you guys are adding numbers, you are removing cost for the item you are replacing right? I mean, the additional cost of a LS7 OVER a LS3 is approx $7500. Remember, all this wiz-bang stuff (except the new dampers) is older vette and caddy items. I come up with around + $17K for mechanicals. Add $3K for new trim bits, glass..etc. That's $20K + $34K for a 1SS "stripped" car and the total is $54K. I would be totally surprised if it stickers for over $58K.

I think $75K may be too close to Corvette territory for Chevy's comfort. Guys with gobs of cash want comfort. I am hoping this is $50K or less. I suspect we'll find out soon...just not soon enough since i want to know right freaking now.

I am afraid it may be closer to 65k. The ls7 is pretty expensive. I am hoping that since the z06 was around 75 but was fully loaded with options and this is no options maybe that will be reflected in the price but we will just have to wait and see.

If Ford built a 5.8 NA at 88 HP/L like the 302, it would be about 515 HP. With what it took to get that power from the 302, I doubt they would be able to get much more out of a NA 5.8.
