4.11 vs 4.33 gears

Hey guys looking to do something about the tall gears in my 2011 SS M6. Currently I have MBRP catback, CAI, and ARH with the jannetty 415 tune. I am planning to put the JRE 460 or 470 cam in the near future. But before that I am planing to do gears. I am thinking about going with the eaton posi mod, JRE billet caps, LPW diff cover, diff bushings and I am also thinking about upgradeing the axels. This car is going to stay NA. and under 500 RWHP. Do you think this setup is overkill? I hear so many stories of blown rearends I want to do it once, and do it right the first time.

I Have been trying to find an awnser on what gears to go with? So far I like the feedback on the Yukons, but are not set on them. Next is what ratio to go with 4.10/4.11 or 4.30/4.33. Keep in mind this is a weekend car and is going to stay NA. I have done many searches and can not find what is the optimal gear for the 1320. I do know that both gear sets will put me into forth gear, with the 4.33 closer to redline so would they be the better choice for street strip duty?? Thanks guys!!!

I love my 4.11's. I would think 4.33's would be great, but 1st gear will be really short (you'll have to shift out of it really quickly), also traction isn't gonna get any better. I'd go w/ 4.11's.

Back before I cracked the motor open, I had 4.33's in the stock housing. I was real happy with them. Unfortunately I didn't have them long enough to get it to a track. Once I had done the cam swap, I went with the 9" and am now running a 4.57 ratio. At the strip, I cross the traps right around 6430 in 4th. My recommendation would be to go with all the gear you can IF you plan to stay NA.

If you need some Yukon's, just let me know. We are one of the biggest dealers if not the biggest dealer in the East Coast Canada.
But for a reason or another,we do not have a big demand on the late model Camaro gears
I think we only sold a handfull of gearsets in the last year or so. (We only sold some 3.91 and 4.11 so far)
Not many modding their diff's up here I guess. Lol......

Why does everyone that had 4.33 not have them long? are they weak and prone to breaking ?

I had the Richmond's when they were first released back in 2010......in fact I may have been one of the first sets on Camaro5 and sold by Apex. I don't want to go into specifics publicly, but my installer messed up and that it why I don't have them anymore.
If it were me I would go with a Yukon gear though. Way too many Richmond failures for me to ever give them a dime of my money. I have run Yukon in the past in different vehicles and never had any issue.

Call the guys at Gforce and get a lifetime warranty on your rear end. I am going 1000 plus hp so I wanted protection from STDs Super Traction but Destruction!

So what do all you guys think of yukon ring and pingion? From the research I have done I have read nothing but good things. They are easy to set up, they are quiet and strong. They seem to be popular in the off road and truck scene. I am leaning towards these in 4.11 but I am open to comments or suggestions.

I would go with 4.33's, but be carefull who installs them. I bought a used rear diff and I had 4.10's installed at a Chevy dealership. 200 miles and they broke. The dealership claimed I had bought bad gears so I bought 4.33's. ,1000 miles and they broke. The dealership wouldn't warranty anything so I put the factory rear diff back in. The pinion on both gear sets were wiped out which I have been told means bad setup. The 4.33's were fun. our car puts down 580rwhp and it was way more fun than the 4.10's. I know they should be pretty similar but they weren't. Today I just installed a ZL1 rear cradle and all. Now I trying to figure out the driveshaft.

When you say the 4.33 was way more fun I like the sound of that. Do you mean fun as in it would shred the tires at the flick of a peddle. I like it idea of 4.33s too, but am worried the car will feel to buzzy if you know what I mean.

Then again it is a 28.5 in wheel that's pretty tall would even out the 4.33

Tap the peddle and yes shred the tires, street tires. Put on DR's or slicks and bam, something breaks. I thought we broke a half shaft this last time out but it was the untouched stock rear diff. I would go with 3.91 YUKONs if I could find someone that could set them up right. The 4.10's/4.33's have a smaller ring gear and is much weaker.
Im just speaking from my recent experiences. If I could find a shop that could set up gears without the fear of breaking, I would do 4.33's. The truth is I personally don't think that it can be done with consistent positive results.

Id say a car that moves is way more fun. Yukon for a stock diff.
I just about had to have an ATM installed in our car to pay for tow trucks.

I went with a 4.11 gear from Strange Engineering. Shop talked me out of going with anything higher for both street/strip. The 4.11 pulls like a freight train but you better be ready to shift or your hitting the rev limiter.
