Best Tape to Use on Car

I've read everything from painters tape to racer's tape to gaffers tape. What should I use on my car when I go to these events?

Problem I have with painters tape is I want to use black tape on the mirrors and gills to protect them during the event and there is no black painters tape that I could find.

Any other tape suggestions also? I read about applying some wax on the car then placing the tape on then wiping away the wax after you apply it to make removing the tape easier after the event.

Got my first Autocross event next weekend which is why I ask.

The blue masking tape sticks well and removes the easiest without leaving adhesive behind.

I wouldn't use gaffer's tape....way too strong (it's basically like duct tape), would be a pain to peel off. (If stuck on the walls in your house, it takes paint w/ it when removed).

blue painters or that black race tape suggested above work.

painters will come off during sessions and not enough stick to keep it...you will be applying it over and over. i wish i just clear vinyl my entire car.

best to get clear bra or clear vinyl wrap, the front end half the hood and the side up to the body line right below the side view mirrors. i clear bra'd the lights in front too
