It keeps getting pricier...
Car and Driver says $55K+ for the ZL1. I can hear the whining already. It's gonna make even more sense for a $40K+ HP Camaro. What do ya' think?

1) ZL1 @ $55+, loaded, not surprizing. It's more car than a current GT 500...for "similar" dough...

2) 1SS + LS7 + ZL1 HD Driveline/Brakes + "enhanced" FE4 + Extracter Hood...figure on BOSS LS money...$45-47K (from GM)...and I'll take mine in double Black, thank you...

LS7
Wheels
Suspension
Hoop and harnesses
Brakes

They add up fast.
...wellllll, add it up......fast...!

Lowdown this link applies to an earlier post by you.
It deals with OEM upgrades. I thought you might like it.

You'll likely need to arm-wrestle Ken Lingenfelter for that one...but, as they say, "IF The Price Is Right!" And, IIRC, the Silver LPE car from SEMA '09 was referred to as "L28", no?

http://www.lingenfelter.com/news/201...owerblock-tv-s

And then there was this one, from camaro5fest II...

http://www.lingenfelter.com/LPEforum...read.php?t=849

It appears as if the "L28" is the Styling Package, with free-form motor-vation.

I suspect the aftermarket price of an LS7'd Camaro would quickly approach ZL1 (or more!) money..."not that there's anything wrong with that". Except for all those folks who think we're suckin' wind for a mid-$40s ZEE, a mid-$50s+ ELLE would certainly be less voluminous...but at least you could order one "today"...

See what happens when #3 works hard? We decide to build it on our own.

The "problem" of an LS3 "takeout" vs. an LS7 "crate transplant", aftermarket-wise, is the conversion cost is = LS3 value...and the same applied to the HD Tremec...and suspension/driveline/brake upgrades. There's at least 30 hours labor, too, for the "whole deal".

So, to a Base 1SS, add ALL the above...and pretty quickly (no pun intended) you zip right through $50Gs and climb further with wheels/tires/hood...

Done in-house by GM, you would ONLY be faced with the incremental piece-cost differentials...developmental expenses...and added profit$...which, in potential volumes, should be well-South of $50...

As I mentioned earlier, a proper aftermarket LS7, driveline-upgraded "ZEE" would tally out at ZL1 number$...for fun...and, at those numbers, the market would diminish considerably. That's why you see the LS9 used by the "famous" tuner-folk...or a Maggie'd LS3... ROI...

The only reasonable aftermarket "ZEE" n/a alternative that would make sense, $-wise, would be a CNC'd/billet/forged/stroked LS3...and to hell with CAFE...and then spec what trans/driveline/brake/wheel features you prefer. But you'll still be deep into the $40s...with "aftermarket" warranties...
