Camaro SS vs. Subaru WRX STI
Hey guys for my Camaro all i have is a flowmasters 20, and upgraded intake. My friend has a WRX STI i know they are all wheel drive so i was wondering how would it go from a 40 roll or dead stop?
I have a 2010 SS he has a 2011 STI Last edited by Shayne70; 10-11-2012 at 12:27 AM. |

No competition. They are slow from a roll, about the same speed as bolt on manual LLT V6 camaro(not calling it slow, just slow relative to your SS).

What year STi? Any mods done to it?
If it's stock (any year), you will have no issues beating it from a roll. Even lightly modified STi's (stage 1) should be no problem for you when going from a roll. However, a good STi driver from a dead stop will give you problems...even stock cars. The late model version (2008+) will definitely give you issues. STi's are mean cars from a stop but they don't have the horsepower on the top end to pull away at higher speeds. The 6-speed transmission gear ratios are very short too, which makes the driver have to shift constantly when racing in a straight line.

If your SS runs like the 2011 SS I test drove you are toast, if it runs like my 2012 SS . Honestly I think an STI with even stage 1 mod will hang.

You're toast from a roll and a stop. And yes, I'm pretty knowledgable on the fact You'll have a better chnace if it's a 2008+, but it won't be pretty.

A stock 2011 STI with a good driver will run mid/low 13's, and mid/high 12's with basic bolt ons. The STI's advantage is the launch and the Camaro's is horsepower.

In my neck of the woods that's more like high to mid 13s. But what ever the case may be they aren't that slow like others on here make them seen.

im not sure if your kidding or not b/c he has a SS the STI would be the one losing since its stock and the OP has small hp adders on. To the OP you will win definately from a roll as for a dead stop you need to launch well

Friend had a stage 2 2010 sti- exhaust downpipe intake bov tune lowering spring and sway bars, and i have a 2011 camaro ss L99 with exhaust and intake. He will take you off the line untill about 50 then you have him. From a roll about 40 or 50 you will kill him by about 6 or 7 car lengths. They are very quick off the line and handle very well, but even stage 2 stis fall apart after 50 or 60.

?? That doesn't make sense since there is no performance changes from a 2010,2011,2012,2013 SS ??
