Gen5 vs 1977 T/A vs 1973 Camaro SS

Since I have the pleasure of owning all 3, I gotta say my Gen 5 simply astounded me when I bought it a few years back in comparing it to my Gen 2's. After headers, Borla Atak, CAI, and a tune I realized just how great modern technology is, and how much easier it is to wrench on a newer car. My 2nd gens are built - 400+ horse power, chassis, brakes, suspension, 4:11 gears and the like, but do not hold a candle to the performance of my Gen5. (they are all street cars). What the 2nd Gen's DO have is some classic styling and collect-ability, and get really noticed at the car shows.

Gen5 vs 1977 T/A vs 1973 Camaro SS

Looks like I'm not the only one that loves the birds!

Handling wise I think my t/a May have a slight edge over my Camaro But I think it's pretty much on par with the 5th gen. Have yet to drive a ss 5th gen and really pound on it but messin around with other people they keep up off the line but not long after that. Gotta love a poncho mill

Mr Vroom Vroom - love your T/A! The color is sweet. Is that a true 400 Poncho, and am I seeing Edelbrock Heads and intake? I run a old single plane Holly intake and it sucks in daily driving, want to go to an Edlebrock Air Gap or something. These T/A's handle great with some basic mods, but like the C5's, they are heavy beasts.

I have a 73 protouring firebird. It's fun but yeah 40 years of improvements make a huge difference. The bird even with the horsepower, hydro boost big brages suspension aND chassis improvements aND t56 is not a 5th gen.

Nice collection

Thanks, it's the impulse blue off the gto

yep a forged 400 roller motor, kre aluminum heads with 10.5:1 rpm intake. Winds up like a mother with the roller cam.

Stock for stock my Camaro and the bird are the same skid pad but the Camaro is a v6 and the bird has a lot done to it.

What is a "RPM" Intake? Mine has the Ram Air III heads ported, Super Duty Rods, Scorpion Roller Rockers, HO Cam, Herb Adams oil Pump and Pan, Crankcase Evacuation Pump, Demon Carb, Tri Y Headers, MSD 6A and MSD Timing Computer, Nitrous and Machine Gun Purge out the back of the scoop, and a ton 'O Billet. Show queen now, don't drive her much.

I owned a 73 Camaro, 350 engine when I was 16 years old. Talk about having a good time. Loved that car.
Unfortunately the constant repairs to keep it running in good condition became too much to deal with and I sold it. I still miss that car.

I thought it was soooo fast at the time, but by today's standards it was pretty slow. It sure sounded bad ass with headers (music to my ears).
