hard top convertible?

do you think they will ever come out with a hard top convertible? if so, then do you think it will be in the 5th gen? i mean lets be honest, the camaro isn't the lightest car on the road and i know that all the mechanics of a hard top vert, or even a rag top really add alot of weight. i know a camaro is mostly about performance, but the even make a M3 in a hard top vert and it's supposed to be all about performance.

The reason i ask is because i have a (E90) BMW right now and i'm really thinkin about gettin a E93 (vert) or F3X (whatever the vert ends up being). But i LOVE my fiancés C5 and would like to get one, but i really want a vert, not a huge fan of soft tops though. Thoughts?

Don't hold your breath on a hardtop Camaro convertible. GM's reasoning (at least a couple of yrs ago) was to keep costs down. Maybe, maybe at some point down the road, but they've got to get out of all the gov't red tape, and be
continuously profitable for several years. But that's IMHO.

I would love a hard top. My previous car was a rag top . i swore never to by a rag top again. just did not like it. So when I discovered the 5th gen i did not think twice and got the coupe. I would have definitely payed extra for a hard top.

Indeed, saw a 'vert when I was in getting my standard plates and I wasn't a huge fan of the top up. Down the car was cool...but I really love the roof lines a lot apparently because the vehicle just felt like it was missing something.

One of the things I love about the camaro is the roof lines. The ragtop just doesn't do it for me, but if they were to make a hardtop convertible where you could barely tell the difference, I might be all over it. The only reason I wouldn't be that excited about it is because I ride a motorcycle for commuting alot, so I don't really need a 'vert. Heck, when I bought my jeep a few years ago at first I was so excited to take the top and doors off, but once I went back to 80% motorcycle, the Jeep stayed closed up because the only time I drove it was when it was too nasty for the bike. And half the time I rode the bike anyway

I doubt you will ever see a retractable hardtop convertable on the 5th gen Camaro. To little demand and to expensive to develope.
What I would like to see is a true 2 door hardtop (sans "B" pillar). Check out the Camaro concept- A true "hardtop" and much nicer than the current coupe. IMO.

I'd buy a hard top! It's the ultimate disguise. Is it a hard top or a convertible? You do not know until the top starts to come off. I'd be interested to hear what fbodfather has to say on this specific topic.

the car (especially the vert) is pretty hefty as it is so this would only add weight and cost to the car. not likely to happen.... maybe the next gen or the one after that.
