incase someone doesn't know.
z28 = Z representing the last letter in the alphabet and none after, the 2 for dual exaust and the 8 for eight cylinder. ss= super sport

like the Cutlass 442 (pronounced four-four-two) stood for 4 bbl carb, 4-speed, dual exhaust

Sooo the Z27 Camaros meant that it had dual exhaust and a 7 cylinder engine?

well Super Sport was right & Z28 seemed plausible. that would really screw up in the Z24 though. it's kinda hard to have true duals on a Cavalier. Z71 would have been a real black sheep

I'm fine with the 430hp SS. Some headers, tune and cai, you're looking at ~475.
So I don't need or really desire a Z28, but I'm a gearhead. Of course I want a Z28...

Gotta love this shit!

I'm a die hard Z28 fan. I have an '81, my father has a '69 (matching numbers DZ). Financially I'm holding out for a few years anyway, so waiting for a Z28 works out well. But hell, even if Z28 is completely dead and aside from my many hours of uncontrollable fits of crying, I will be VERY content with the produced SS. An LS3 pushing 430hp, cracking through the gears with a factory Hurst short-throw, plus the MANY MANY mods already coming out for the LS3,... the sky's the limit. Headers, CAM, bore-n-stroke, port-n-polish, maybe even a supercharger,... we can very easily see a GT500 killer. And if you want the quick-n-easy, GMHP sells many crate motors to fuel the need.

7 exhausts, 1 cylinder? That falls into the 'just because you can, doesn't mean you should' category.
