Cheap ebay mufflers

Has anybody tried those cheap ebay $200 special axle backs? I am more concerned with fitment than I am sound. I deleted my mufflers when I bought my car and this week the cat's are getting removed when the long tubes go on, I am afraid straight pipes with long tubes/no cats will be a bit too much and I don't know the direction I am going with exhaust yet so I don't want to drop 5-900 bucks on mufflers right now. Also welcome any other suggestions.

My cheap muffler on my old minivan rotted out even sooner. Maybe you should pass on those.

Appreciate the input, rot should not be a concern as this is a weekend car and I just need something that will keep me from getting pulled over. I want to get the headers, cam, and tune dialed in before I start dropping a ton of money on pipe.

It's like cheap shoes, look fine at first, but you'll have replace them four times as often as a good pair, where's the cheap in that?

If it were me, I would just get a good set. If I couldn't swing it, I would hold off the header install until I could, or just live with the extra noise.

Another idea would be go with high flow cats, probably a little less than mufflers and may calm the sound down a little?

Or, look for a good used set, people are changing stuff all the time, might find a good used Borla or something in the classifieds.

Keep an eye on the Member's Classified. A lot of folks here change out mufflers like underwear.

I have been, I just got a PM recommending I just get some flowmaster or magnaflow race mufflers and weld them into my existing axle back, I think this will be the route I end up going.

I used the Dynomax axle back...nice set up for the price. Tips are really nice. It was $360.00 shipped from Summit Racing.

Do you have a x pipe? What brand headers are you running? If you have the TSP setup we have something you'll like!

See..if we were talking headers, the answers would be "Go for it...same thing as $1000 axleback, but a 3rd the price! Go Capitalism!

That setup will be very loud, just get some used mufflers on craigslist and have a shop weld them in. You can be done for less than $250

I am assuming you are still using the stock tubing? JMO, LT's, hi flo cats (to cut back on rasp) and add you eBay muffs. Should sound really good with cam.
