Installed headers(open), have a bunch of warning lights now
I installed my headers this morning with a friend. I had to run them open to a shop because my connector pipes didn't fit, and I needed them to do some welding. We turned around since the weather was bad though. Drove maybe a few blocks.
I expected a check engine light (didn't use rear 02s), however the service stabilitrack, and traction control, battery, etc came on. Do you think this is caused by the computer going crazy since I'm running open headers? Or did we mess something up? |

Also, my car is tuned. Not sure if that matters

Hmm. Kinda the same thing that happened to me after my car was on the smog rollers. Should go back to normal after a few miles potentially? Or maybe after the car sits over night.. id get those o2's in there first..

Well I'm hoping after the shop connects the headers to the actual exhaust things might calm down. I'm only running the front O2s, which are connected, I'm going to get the rear ones tuned out though

Make sure all your sparkplug wires are firmly connected to coils and plugs. Also, make sure you didn't crack a plug

Double check the plugs and wires 1st, 2nd I hope your not welding the pipes to the headers I would get the correct ones. Welding them is not the best thing to do in case you do any trans work you'd have to cut it again.

Thanks guys, I'll double check the spark plugs/wires
62nalide- I have connection pipes that clamp to the headers, so I'm just going to ask them to either clamp it to the exhaust piping, or just weld it |

same thing happened to me. I was a lazy ass and did not remove my spark plugs when attempting to remove and install my headers. Well i manaed to hair line crack like 4 of them LOL.
Replaced them all and made sure the wire were snug and the stabilitrack errors completely went away. So double check the plugs like everyone said. i am sure you'll find one or two damaged as they are a type of ceramic and are easily cracked. |

The lights will probably go out when you finish the exhaust. I noticed that when I run my header cutouts open, that the car runs really poor. Like the knock sensors are kicking in.

Likely your spark plugs/wires. Rear o2's won't cause a stabilitrak light.
