An odd question about theft... Why would someone take this stuff?

Some low life's will take the things you described and attempt to get a loan with the vehicle as collateral. It's in your friend's name and essentially looks like your 'friend' took out another loan which will never be paid.

I hope your friend reported this and gives a heads up to the insurance company in case a second lien holder's name shows up.

Advise your friend to check with the Credit Reporting Agencies also.

She already filed a police report, I'll give her a heads up about credit agencies and the insurance company. Thanks for the input guys, at least we will know what they could have been after stealing that stuff now.
