Brand New 2018 seems to be re-painted?

Hi,
Just bought a new 2018 A10 Blk Zl1 a couple weeks ago. It's been kind of cloudy and rainy since then so I couldn't really see the car in the light.

Had it taken to a detailer this morning to get it ceramic coated, before they touched the car they called me saying theirs a lot of over sprayed areas and wet sanded areas on the car and asked if it was in an accident before? I said no cause its brand new. They suggested that it had been in an accident because its so over-sprayed and the paint is very cloudy/orange peeled.

Called the dealer, waiting a response from the manager.

Just wanting to know if this has happen to anyone else? p.s. also the rear bumper is misaligned like crazy

Just my luck
-Thanks

Did it sit at the dealer for a while? Possible they damaged it and repaired it.

Post some pics please. If it's that bad the dealer will have to work with you.

Don't feel too badly, a friend's Demon has repainted fenders on it. From the factory too.

If dealership did paint work on a new car they are supposed to disclose that. Sometimes if it is very very minor they don't say anything. A good rule of thumb is 1% of the MSRP. So on a 68K ZL1 if damage and repair was around 680.00 you should of been notified when you bought it.

I would agree with this but they are basing that 1% off "cost" not what they would charge you

About 2months ago a friend (who works for GM) just got his SS 1LE and noticed it was damaged and a respray. They admitted it was damaged on delivery (which I understand happens more than you might think). Never the less he told them to take the car back... and ended up with a ZL1 for his company car. (Put the car under some fluorescent lights or, daytime with some good polarized shades... that is a great telling sign when there is a repaint)

Actually, the law is the determining factor. Some states have no such laws and it is up to the dealer, others will stipulate certain conditions of damage. In the end it's widely up to dealer discretion. The dealership I work for will disclose all damage. I went on a test drive where we (the customer) hit a deer about 2 weeks ago and sold the car completely repaired with a huge discount a week later to someone else.

With that being said, it's not uncommon for these cars to come in with wet sanded spots that need to be polished. Typically a good hand polish will fix any such areas.

Taking it in friday to have them look at it, if their bodyshop manager knows anything about paint he'll know that its been resprayed and wet sanded heavily in multiple areas.
