Planning first mod - DRL and interior lights
First post!
Bought my first car/Camaro almost 2 weeks ago. Black 2013 Camaro 2LT RS. I love it so far, but I definitely have some mods in mind for it. I got the dealer to throw in the heritage grille as part of negotiations so I guess that technically was my first mod but I'm now planning on getting the DRL lights upgraded to LEDs and getting them to stay on at all times with the halos as well as get LEDs for the interior. Question is - what is the best website to order these things from? After much research it seems like I need the P13W lights, and a DRL harness (i think this also keeps the halos on?). I also think I can use the 5050 LEDs for the interior dome light, trunk and license plate. Can anyone verify that these will work on a 2013 model? I see that gen5diy.com has all these parts, but I am somewhat confused about the P13W lights because they come in 6 watt and 11 watt forms. Any recommendations here? I also saw the description says its for 2010-2011 models...? aacstyle.com has the P13W LEDs as well, with the harness included. No mention of the wattage though. They do offer plasma LEDs too, not sure how much brighter they are compared to the regular LEDs or if they are even worth it... thoughts? No interior 5050 lights on this website though. Last thing - gen5diy let me know there is a Virginia legal harness when high beams are used... and i do happen to live in VA. $75 for a harness seems steep, specially when i rarely ever use high beams. If I go with the regular harness, does anyone know if I will fail state inspections? My chevy dealer offers free yearly state inspections so I was planning to go to them. thanks in advance for the advice! |

As others have stated get your harness and bulbs from Ofer at gen5diy.
For the 2013 I believe you need the psx26 bulbs though. |

Wow i don't know how I missed that I tried to filter through the categories section on the left on gen5diy.com and the p13w came up not the psx26. But it seems like you are right. I guess for what I want (DRLs on at night, halos always on), i need both a DRL harness AND a Halo harness too... How can I get in contact with Ofer? might be a lot of $$ for what i thought was a simple mod.

$50 harness from gen5diy will keep your DRL's on during the day and night with your halos. You don't need to buy a halo harness. I got my LED DRL's from ideal garage. I got my dome light, trunk and license plate LED's for $1 from DDMtuning.com

Got my DRL harness and P13W bulbs from Offer. Great to deal with, both fit easily and came well wrapped! Oh and by the way, they look awesome!

Awesome, yesterday I ordered the 11 watt psx26 lights and a couple of courtesy lights to match. I'm hoping to get all in one VA legal DRL harness and halo harness like in these pictures http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=262102 I've sent Ofer a PM about it as it seems like its a custom harness.

Parts came in!
These lights just came in and they look amazing. Install wasn't too hard, the only real difficulty was getting the trunk light bulb out of it's little metal enclosure. The psx26 lights are a noticeable improvement in the DRLs. Only hiccup was that i missing a set of courtesy lights for the rear license plate that i ordered
Can't wait for the DRL and halo harness! It will look truly great after that install. Will post pics tomorrow when the DRLs will turn on |
