Installed on 2015 SS non-rs. I love the look, but not happy about the delay.
I remember from Driver's Ed to keep a two second distance to the car in front of you. A one second delay can be a disaster.

Crazy that its normal.... i would call it a design flaw. They look awesome but it really cheapens it when its off that much.. maybe ill put a resistor in the third light and hope i dont get rear ended in Houston. Lol

Yep, same for mine. Like huggett said, not ideal but I can live with it. I'd say it's more like a half second delay. Here's a quick video in case anyone wants to see it.

Yep thats exactly like mine. Damn. Seems very odd. Im going to reach out to the manufacturer. This doesnt make sense to me. I might could understand if it wasnt an LED taillight to this, but going from OEM LED to this LED doesnt make sense.

I tried timing it using my phone's stopwatch but once I hit the start button, the pause button on my dumb phone don't appear until a second and half later.

This is terrible news. I hope you guys are able to find a solution. A car going 45mph travels 33 feet in a half second. Someone behind you could have 33 less feet to stop due to that kind of lag. Higher speeds even less.

Can confirm that I am having the same problem. There has to be some type of way to get it to work faster. I've seen ricers do some crazy stuff with lights using resistors and stuff. This is the only thing I'm a little bummed about because other than that I love these things. Granted I can't see them when i'M driving. But im not worried about my driving it's the people around me. I drive like a grandma when i'm not at the track.

Is there a federal DOT timing standard that has to met in order for them to be marketed as DOT compliant?

If, as the title states, it were the taillights, that could get a pass. But brake lights
