Drag radial sizes
Correct me if I’m wrong but the only 315/35/20 drag radial out there is the NT05R? I’ll have over 700 to the wheel next spring and want something that will handle that kind of power. It’s not a DD but abt 5k miles a summer. No track time but want to be confident that I’ll have the power on the road when that ocasional car next to me test me ha. I don’t drive in the rain either. I know this is a topic in quit a lot of posts just not sure what to go with. I also don’t want to be worried abt taking on/off ramps with some speed. Heard they are not the best in cornering.
Anybody with the NT05Rs let me know what u think and ur power... Thanks

I have the MT in 305 35... put 5000 miles on them this year and they still look good.... and they hook. From what I've researched... they hook better than the 05r's

I have the 315 35 20 nittos, 630rwhp, I find they need to get really hot to make good traction but they hook "ok" . I have heard that the MT's do hook better than the nittos and will probably switch to them.

I'm in the same power range as Coop580 and bought the Toyo R888R's. They work well as an all round tire. Never used the Nitto or MT's. I would buy them over unless something else comes along.

When I turn my boost up at the track I know I'm close to over 700whp. Like JBZL1 said they need some heat to hook, but street driving is decent without a heat cycle. Going into turn 1 at Brainerd Int. I've been in the 100-110 MPH range and they are super stable for such a soft tire. I am switching to a 17 or 18" MT setup this spring for drag days but I would buy NT05R's again, actually I have another set waiting. I drive mine regularly during the summer and my current set has 3k miles and 4 Drag days on them and they still have good tread left.

At over 700 rwhp, theres not much you can do from a stop light in my opinion. Ive tried NT05r and ET streets on 18 inch wheels, its hard to get em hooked from a dead stop. With low air pressures, a 2nd gear roll hooks pretty good. Imo

I have the Nitto NT05R 315/35*20 for my street tires and over 750 whp. I can light them up at 80 mph on the freeway. If I keep my foot out of it, they are ok tires.
MT ET Street R 315/50*17 for racing. They hook. |

I think I’m going with the R888r 315/30/20. I put abt 3-4K miles a summer on my car. Hopefully I get a summer and a half out of them.

i run a toyo r888r non stop with everything i do. its my daily driver,i road course it and drag race it and run all the fellow street racers all the time. ive had my current set on since october and its seen a full day of roadcoursing, 20+ quarter miles and i defintiley dont daily drive nicely and these tires are still lasting and have a lot of life in them. there the only tires i use until i cant get a 17" setup for the strip. i havent seen a set of tail lights yet, ill swear by these tires any day
