Live and you learn. Funny how you know not what to do after a close call. Perhaps we should do a sticky on "How to do a CONTROLLED burnout".

Here's another valuable lesson:
Your insurance company may not pay for the physical damage to your car if occures while racing. In this case they may not find out the details, but if there is a police report and it shows any kind of "racing" they will &/or can deny payment. Keep this in mind when on the drag strip or just showing off with another car.

Wow, that's really unlucky. Not one to give advise, or criticize, because you already know more about feeling bad than I could tell ya. (They are YOUR shorts after all) Damn. Glad you guys are okay......Don't feel bad for the Stang owner, he is after all, grown. And nobody got hurt.

But, I DO have a sick sense of humor tho....I mean I am the "evil one" right?
Hmm, somethin funny, but subtle at the same time...lesse here....no, no, no. AHAH!

Thank GOD he got that coat of wax on there, that was close. Should buff right out tho, since it's Zaino

Couldn't help it.

Russ - there isn't a person here who has not had some "wow, that was dumb" moment while driving. Some have not had adverse effects, some have had minor ones, and the severe ones win Darwin awards.

There are really only two things that control safety margin - distance from others/objects and wheelspeed. You already know you violated both and you are NOT the first. Glad that you did not suffer any damage except how it made you feel, and I am sure that is enough.

Please don't take any of the above in anything but a positive light. It bothered you enough that you posted it and that really says it all.

I hope the younger people will read it and understand.

glad nobody got hurt . . . and glad you're here telling the story

this reminds me of my own stupidity doing burn-outs in my 442 back in high school with a crowd of people on both sides . . . good thing that 442 didn't have posi or I could have gotten sideways and it would have been really bad . . . I don't think I even realized how dangerous that was until maybe 10 years later.

there is a fine line between "fun" and "dangerous" !

We have all done it.

Not to hyjack but hopefully to add some light... In march 2007 I had just bought my C6 and just started dating this girl (my wife now... imagine that) Well I thought I would show off and do a burnout into the garage... backwards. The garage floor was polished concrete, very slippery so as so as the tires were on the slippery concrete, I gave it a little... lets just say the 285s (or whatever they were) on the back hooked pretty good. I didnt hit the back of the garage but I did hit the side of the garage and knoc off the pass side mirror. It hit so hard it ripped the mirror clean off and poped the inside door panel loose some how. Well when i went to fix that, it also ripped the window molding and broke some fiberglass inside the door and put a small crack on the outside of the door. In the end I got a new mirror and the rest just... was...

She just looked at me, shook her head and said WTF was that all about?... hahaha STUPID HAPPENS!

Glad everyone is ok, cars can be fixed.

Russ, don't be too hard on yourself. Like many have previously mentioned, I'd wager the majority of us have already been there, or would have done that. I would have, save I really don't want to replace those Pirellis just yet, lol.

Lesson was learned that day, but don't let it temper the fun you can have in that car. Just tone it down a little, lol!!

Will I do have to say I feel a little better knowing I'm not the only one that does dumbassed stuff!

2010SSRS- I know for sure there were several cell phones out taking pictures, I'm wondering if I will see the video on You Tube some day.

jrhaus- OMG how awful to do it in front of your GF/wife! I cannot imagine how much crap I would have heard if she was with me. But then again.....I would not have done it if she was with me. I would have looked and said something like "look at those idiots trying to show off". Inside I would have been wishing I was one of those idiots!
