We dont have Ams Oil or Royal Purple here. Our major brands in the shops are Redline, Mobil 1, Castrol. and most of them dont have the 15-50 oil in those brands, Which i suppose is the oil i should go for? Thou im willing to ship some from the states to sweden if it means me getting the best for my baby

So you cannot get any 50wt there? I think you'd be fine with 40wt

I suggest this one: Motul 8100 5W40

You don't want to use a 15w50, that is way too thick. Either use a 5w30 or 10w30 (great for a summer only car), or the 5w40 would also be great. I think a 10w30 Mobil 1 Extended Performance, Castrol Edge, Redline... any of those synthetics would work great. If you go with the Mobil1 1, as I understand it, the Extended Performance has more of the good additives. |

Castrol Edge 5w30 also works great. Use a Mobil 1 or K&N oil filter.

Mobil1 5W30 or any Dexos compliant synthetic.
All those mods before your first oil change? You didn't waste any time did you?

Correct. With a supercharger, you still have the OE bearing clearances and other things like lifters spec'd for a certain oil viscosity/flow... in which a 5w30 or 10w30 would better choices. The supercharger adds more heat, so just make sure to use a high quality synthetic and I'd go 10w30 summer and 5w30 if driven in cold climate.
15w50 is more for racing type spec'd engines with larger bearing clearances and more frequent refreshes. Cold start up is very critical. On an engine that needs to last 150,000+ miles you want an oil that flows easy cold. On a race engine that get's rebuilt after a few thousand miles, they more need the extreme pressure lubricating ability of a thicker oil at the sacrifice of cold start wear. |

My attitude towards oil is based on how my 2002 Toyota Tundra (V8) has run over the past 150,000 miles. Never had to add a drop of oil between changes, sometimes going as far as 4,000 miles. And never a single oil leak. I grab what ever is the cheapest on sale and throw it into the motor. And that truck has seen MANY hard miles since first bought. Towing trailers of all kinds up and thru the mountains from VA to Kentucky/Indiana/Ohio....back and forth. Middle of summer and middle of winter. That motor still runs awesome, no valve rattle, no smoking out the pipes. I know the camaro is high performance and tight clearances and all that, but I don't think one should obsess too much over a particular brand and in what order it should be change, such as Dino-oil then to Synthetic-then to....well whatever.
I've even changed the oil and only had a mix of reg oil-synthetic oil, and various weights in order to get it filled up. Still runs strong, oil pressure is always great. And when the shop had to tear down the front of the motor to replace the two timing belts because it's recommended between 90,000 and 120,000 miles (that was a pain), they said everything looked awesome. I think motor oils are a lot closer in comparison then the marketing departments would lead one to believe. I've gone from heavy weight for several months, to a thin synthetic, no oil leaks, and then back again. No problems. Back to towing up and down the mountains.....no problems. My truck has been thru a lot of abuse over the years from day one off the show room floor. I don't think Toyota has the market cornered on building engines better then Chevy. If time proves me wrong and the chevy v8 doesn't hold up, then when time comes to rebuild my camaro engine, then maybe I'll drop a Toyota Racing V8 with a super charger into the car. But Crossing my fingers. |
