My Sig229 in .40 wouldn't lock back either. I first investigated the magazine and it was in perfect working order. I then started looking at the slide lock lever. I realized it was dragging on the frame ever so slightly and the magazine spring wasn't strong enought to overcome the friction. I lubed it up well and it worked perfectly ever since. I guess maybe I shoulda oiled it a bit before shooting it but I was too excited.

I am a retired Sgt. Deputy Sheriff and also retired military. My last two years in the military I was a gun mechanic, mainly guns for chopper gunships, and in the S/O I was certified by Al., F.B. ONE, and NRA firearms instructor. This is leading up to let y'all know that I am gun poor. I enjoy firing them, working on them and talking about them. I guess you could say they are my hobby, or to the Brady bunch, they may call me " one of these gun nuts ".
I try to tell people that firearms are tools, just like hammers, screw drivers etc.. Never lose respect for them, or like most tools, they will bite you. Don't be afraid of them, respect them and they will serve you well.

That's usually the answer for jams and such. Ninty per cent are caused by the mags.

My advice is to shoot them. The one that feels best to you would be the one to get.

Good stuff there

And it's a whole new level of caution when children are in the home..... I hate those tragedies
